Sorry 80kts, I just couldn't resist.
Disclaimer: Take the DPA/D-ALPA arguments to the other thread. I'm so bored with the "flimsy" DPA support, I almost took a full hiatus from L&G about Delta.
Here goes "MB".
How are they going to do anything better, more cheaply, or more efficiently than D-ALPA, when they're unable to even garner enough cards to bring their "cause" to a member vote? (Yes, I know Carl thinks their 4400 submitted cards is equivalent to 4400 votes, but please be realistic.)
True. They need to get voted in as our bargaining agent first. I know, people believe they will if "D-ALPA fails to perform", but I doubt it.
Last time I checked, unless your hallowed DPA has done another "informal poll", a majority of "regional" guys/gals have aspirations of becoming mainline pilots. Why on God's green earth would they want to take their future position? Or erode a quality of life they hope to one day have?
Think about it Bacon. I know you're a smart guy. It is MANAGEMENT, let me say it again, IT IS MANAGEMENT, that chooses to run their business the way they do. When this is the case, as it is in any other capitalistic environment, MANAGEMENT chooses to lower costs by OUTSOURCING!! You can offer the argument that D-ALPA, "let it happen", but it is the mainline employee group (i.e. Delta pilots) that will vote for, or against the contract.
BWAHAHAHAHA..........(oh you're killing me)...........HAHAHAHAHAHA.......(hang on a second "Bacon" while I catch my breath................................BWAHAHAHAHAH A....
Because "hiring the best legal team money can buy" has worked well for the US Air East babies and their USAPA struggle. Run up to CLT sometime and ask them for yourself!
Geez man, that's easily the funniest thing anyone has posted in a long while!! You, my good fellow, have missed your calling.
You've probably never been told you're "cheap", but you sure are "easy"!!
Good day,
GJ

If the TA is weak, those 4000 people who did turn in DPA cards (and would easily do it again if needed to re-up their status) will turn into 6500 easily, and then all you need is one more vote than half of the total pilots, and ALPA is GONE. If the TA is weak during this period of HUGE profits, then the vote may come sooner than you think. Go ahead, vote for ALPA, I will cancel your vote if that TA sux.
Comparing the successes of SWAPA, to the perceived success of what DPA's "empty promises" of what they think they could bring, if they were our bargaining agent is purely speculative, at best. For gods sake, they can't even muster enough support to reach a point where they're brought to a vote by the collective group. How are they going to stand a chance against management? (Are they going to say something like, "I know we don't have quite the support we think we need to go on strike, but by golly, we have people submitting cards.")
Good day,
GJ

As of last year it's gone, they just rent him something now and he gets taxed on it.
Also gone.
The current President's car is $383 a month. Wasn't clear if that included insurance and gas.
It was reduced(?) to $355,120 and that includes the salary, per diem, value of the apartment and car for IRS taxing purposes and any other imputed income.
Said their newsletter explained this better than he could and was also online?
Same for this this.
He said the President only gets a pensions for the years he's not at the airline getting his 401K. Wasn't sure of percent but said it worked out to less than what we get percentage-wise.
Said it was one meeting. Said other stuff was going on and wouldn't elaborate on whether it could have been done somewhere cheaper?
Said 2011 President's Per Diem worked out to about $65 per day, but would get back to me on that number as he said TC had done some math wrong in his totals when he copied it.
Elvis,

I respect your opinion, and to be fair, can only say, "we will see". It is my opinion, that their are more "chest thumping keyboard rangers" than there are people willing to take action if D-ALPA produces something inadequate.
Just my .02

You're right, there could be some people out there that just threw in the card to pressure ALPA. The problem is, if the upcoming TA is weak after seeing all of the profits etc for the last couple years, then that may tip another couple thousand who have resisted so far to sign off on the card. It only takes 50% plus one to change EVERYTHING. That could devistate ALPA, losing $35 million per year in our dues alone. So, I hope DALPA gets us an acceptable TA, and that means a nice raise, some better rules, and some better scope. I know that may be tough, but that is what we pay them for. Good luck ALPA, we are all counting on you.
