Dear diary, what a glorious dream.

Not to burst your bubble, but I read somewhere (and I can't find it right now), where RA was asked about a possible merger / purchase of Alaska. He basically said, "we get exactly what we need, west coast feed, without the big expense of a purchase, so I don't see why we would want to do that."

One thing some of you fdal old timers say is that when dal got a good thing in the past handed to them, or bought it, that sadly it didn't take long before we killed it. Whether that is true or not, IMHO I think it's best for Alaska airlines that they remain independent and in control of a rather unique product.

I'm concerned about it basically being a large jet dci though.

Remember, similar denials were made about NWA/DAL before it was let out of the bag. CEO's unfortunately have a responsibility to lie.

You have a good point. But it was years in the making for the Delta NWA to come. We just announced a codeshare with Alaska ... its going to be a very long time before we buy them ... IF we ever buy them.

And RA and team better be smart and have some good language in that contract so nobody else can purchase them and thus cut out our west coast feed.

Well, RA also states, "No Comment" in regards to Alaska last year. It was prefaced with, " I normally do not say this, but...."

It was during the investor call.

IMHO they like it, but with the code share that is allowed in our section 1, I do not see why we would need to buy them. Just my .02.

Yes, but the company has said in some public places that the 30's and 40's will be gone by 2012. They have not given an exit date of the Domestic 767's but they have stated they want to park them, and if you look at last weeks Trim Tab, there are no 5500 Block 757's listed on there.

An awful lot can change between now and SOC, let alone 2012, both good and bad. I think Nostradamus probably has more accurate fleet/base forecasts about now....

What is a 5500 block 757? Never heard of it. Are you talking about getting rid of them? Buying some?
