I remember when I was in the right seat of the 88. The guys who upgraded to Captain on the 88 coming off the 767 as F/O's (and hadn't flown the 88 before) were the guys who hated the 88 the most. Multiply that by a factor of probably 10 with the DC-9... and I can't see many 767 pilots bidding it.
When I jumpseat on the -9, I'm a dog watching TV. Its been so long since I did steam guages, I just assume the pilots are doing all the right stuff. I guess I'd be the check airman everyone wanted.

DELTA COUNCIL 54
March 13, 2012
FLASH

<img id="_x0000_i1025" height="90" width="90">

Today, the Delta MEC Negotiating Committee provided Delta management with our Contract 2012 opener. The wants, needs, and expectations of the pilot group have been incorporated in the opener, which you should receive shortly. The opener is conceptual in nature, but let’s be clear: the Delta pilots are asking for POSITIVE CONTRACT IMPROVMENTS. Our goal is for the Delta pilots to Lead the Industry with our new contract from day one.

As many of you are aware, Council 54 has provided you with several position papers over the last 15 months. We believe strongly that these positions on scope, pay, and compensation as a whole are relevant and obtainable today. Your three officers are in full agreement with the MEC’s strategy and the contract opener. We have that comfort because we are confident in the team we have put in place, and as your elected reps, we will judge any TA on its merits before we cast our ratification vote. We know what the Delta pilots have telegraphed clearly to us as to what they would like to see.

The Delta MEC believes that the Delta pilots should Lead the Industry on day one of this contract, not just a particular section but the contract as a whole. Past history shows that the Delta MEC has already been in negotiations through the improvements derived from the SOT and TOT committees. Today, the Delta pilots open to improve the entire pilot contract.

Now...when they say, "lead the INDUSTRY" does that industry include UPS, Fed Ex, and oh, SWA?

Or is the "Industry" only composed of Bankrupt Legacy Airlines?

Because I'm pretty sure we already lead them...

To my fellow negotiating brothers, I know you are tired of surveys…but I need your help to complete my AF square filler. If you are or were at some time a commuter…can you go to the survey sections and take the 5 minutes and fill out the survey in reference to fatigue…Thanks in advance and cheers…drinks are on me…

Hmmmm....Timbo are you trying to be one of the "usual suspects?" (smiley added)

It seems to me that our contract comparison did NOT include SWA, AF or KLM.

I think Sailing just got a call from the NMB saying we are in the penalty box "for just ASKING for industry leading pay.". Expect a 7 year wait to come out, unless we ask for Allegiant wages for our 777s....

When I was flying the -9 out of DTW we we're going from DTW to somewhere (I want to say STL, but it's not important), with a Compass guy in the jumpseat. Anyway, somewhere near the transition from departure to center, he leaned forward and said, "I hate to admit this, but I have no idea what you guys are doing up there." The captain almost immediately shot back with, "Neither do I, but the controllers yell at us when we *** it up, so it's really not so hard."
