Fact: There was not even an attempt to recapture in scope on the opener (at least the one we saw).
Fact: DALPA is aiding and abetting the company when DALPA tells us we can't get an industry-leading contract
Fact: DALPA guys have (not so subtlety) been floating this 717-for-scope nonsense
Fact: Heard a P2P guy trying to tell me why 5/5/5/5 is the "best we can get"
Additionally, there has been a coordinated, concerted effort for months--basically, since it became obvious that the company is hugely profitable, to manage our expectations downward
What exactly do you disagree with?

Amusing.
Counter-fact:I remember the opener said "improve scope". Prove me wrong.
Counter-fact:There has been a coordinated, concerted effort for months, basically since it became obvious the RedvGreen crap wasn't getting traction here, to sell us the Detroit Pilot Association.
As far as the other points, I haven't seen any attempt by an actual ALPA person to minimize expectations. I am a little curious about Shiznit's little "feeler" on Scope, and I'd have a open discussion about that with you, except you're just an obvious DPA salesman, and why waste time with a salesman?
Just be honest about it, and move it over to the DPA thread.

Fact: There was no attempt to reel in scope on the opener (at least the one we saw). None

Wow. Thanks. Comments like these only weaken DPA. When you resort to immature insults, people will just start ignoring you.

I miss the days when this thread was more focused on tasteful under/side boob art, as opposed to the ongoing DALPA v. DPA bickering.
Where's Jesse when you need him...
Where's Jesse when you need him...
The problem is not so much DPA vs DALPA as it is that the only thing some can do is throw a grenade. I mean Carl and T can fight all they want, if you read it you can learn about the two opposing sides. But just to constantly throw a generic grenade that adds nothing is... well, we're collectively over it.
It is the catalyst that is the question. Will it be a TWA judgement or perhaps a terminal fumble with the TA at DAL or even UCAL? A serious scope misjudgement or tone deaf misreading of their constituents that pushes them over the edge (i.e assesments for legal issues, FPL issues, overreaching misguided LOA's and MOU's, etc.)
Its like watching history all over again and it is unfolding right infront of our eyes.
@ Bar. Swwwwweeeet Helio. I want one. Found one listed for 300K . Now, about that lotto cause this payscale now ain't gonna swing it. The multiple beaver thing, while really nice, is way out of my league.
Although, did run into a 777 guy awhile back who took time off flying misconnected bags in Alaska to cruise ships in a 182. Heard recently from some SLC guys that he he has a small fleet of Caravans and Twotters flying same misconnected bags and peeps to ships. Claimed Delta his biggest customer. Also no longer a 777 guy. Wish I'd thought of that!
@ FlyZ. Awesome analogy. Perfect. Man, we are worthless if we bend over again.
@ FtB. Way to add the "!" to FlyZ's post with the Tiger visual. Also, speaking of visuals, nice chart.
In the midst of the industry’s constant evolution, we believe the Delta pilots may once again have an opportunity to succeed in a timely manner. With all of this in mind, your MEC concluded its recent meeting with a unanimous resolution, which read in part that:
“. . .the Negotiating Committee immediately begin to pursue a superior Pilot Working Agreement, achieved in advance of the amendable date, that justly compensates the Delta pilots for their contributions to the success of the Company.”
...It includes key facts, which support the premise that attempting to achieve a timely superior agreement is consistent with pursuing the best interests of the Delta pilots...
...and concluded that a strategy to achieve a timely superior agreement is fully consistent with protecting our interests in this area...
...if the MEC’s approach to concluding a superior contract prior to the amendable date is not working to the MEC’s satisfaction...
Our reps are stating that they (and we) want an industry leading contract. Our reps (and we) are stating THAT is the primary goal and they won't weaken that goal in the pursuit of speed. Our MEC clearly disagrees. The MEC says they can't deliver on industry leading. They can only deliver on "superior". Superior to what is of course, an unknown.
Carl
Negotiating scope and job security. We all know that these important issues have been and likely will be on the bargaining table in every Section 6 negotiation. The MEC spent considerable time becoming informed on events that affect all aspects of Delta pilot job security, both on the domestic and international level, and concluded that a strategy to achieve a timely superior agreement is fully consistent with protecting our interests in this area.
Too bad APC only allows me three of these.
Carl
