Nice try 88. I know what I believe, and I couldn't care less what you think I believe about where we are going. Funny that you feel that having another life outside of this one is sticking your head in the sand. That is rather sad actually. I would think with your investment prowess that you would have lots more fun and be lots more profitable than worrying about where the company is going... and the simple fact that you as an individual can do nothing about it. If you think you are really gonna change any minds here, I am thinking you are pretty well mistaken. Guys who don't subscribe to your premise that C2K + COLA is attainable are probably not gonna come around to your way of thinking. Maybe it is YOUR head in the sand, and the air around it is the current state of the industry/economy... but I KNOW that I am not gonna change your mind either, so here we are. I will study and digest things as they come out.. I won't make up my mind based on one informational paper, and weigh the package as a whole. I do not have the luxury to be in the room with the negotiators so I have to assume that they are doing the best they can. That being said, if the TA doesn't live up to my expectations, I will vote no. But it will be for those reasons that I deem important and achievable, and people with an agenda will not sway that decision. (And I am not talking about you)...

I'm speechless. I'm also willing to bet you don't talk to real people like that.

You boys have a dandy day, this is me walking out of the bar

I never said anything of the sort. I have plenty of "life" outside of these boards and Delta. If we weren't in a deeply concessionary bankruptcy/emergency contract (which has a very profound effect on my current and future financial plans for my family), you probably wouldn't ever hear from me. I would be one of those guys you seem to admire so much who is totally out of touch with what's going on with Delta and ALPA. But I don't think I have that luxury. I haven't given up on this profession or my career. Therefore, I do what I can... which is to make my wishes known to my reps and to try and change a few minds here and on the DALPA Forum by making what I think are very logical, rational arguments. Often, those arguments are in conflict (contrary) to the direction taken by DALPA. It is what it is.

I get that you don't see it that way. And that's fine. Nobody is going to like everyone else's opinions. I'm certainly guilty of taking some cheap shots (like the head in the sand pic), but if you'll look at it with an open mind, I think you'll see that it is almost never something that I initiate and is almost always in response to the same.

"Investment prowess?" That's hilarious. I have never claimed to have anything of the sort. I have recommended an investment method that I think is a good, steady way (objective is an average, consistent 12% annual yield) to build a retirement portfolio over time without taking a lot of risk. That is NOT a "get rich quick scheme." And having had to basically start over planning for my retirement halfway through my career, it hardly allows me to not worry about "where the company is going." Plus, I really like my job and want Delta to be successful long term. I care about what happens to this company. I also care about being compensated at a level that is commensurate with the difficulty of achieving success in this career, the risk we constantly have to our careers, and the tremendous responsibility we all have. But I'm sorry... I realize you don't want to think about all that. Maybe you could just put me on your "ignore list." That's a pretty good feature of this board, and then you wouldn't have to be agitated by reading my posts. Give it a try. It might make you feel better.

I know that I have changed some minds. Guys have told me that. But I realize I will never change your mind as it is already made up.

You haven't read my posts very closely. I have said on several occasions that C2K+COLA is probably not attainable all at once. But I think it should be our objective. What I have also said is that SWA W2+ for our MD-88/90 pilots is my personal minimum. That would be about a 45% increase (whether through pay rates, work rules, or some combination). Anything less than that will be an automatic NO vote from me. Same goes for scope. It cannot be a "hold the line" type thing. It must begin to reverse the outsourcing or it gets an automatic NO vote from me. Those are my two "hot button" issues. I think I've previously spelled that out pretty clearly. Your mileage may vary.

Good luck with your blood pressure. Try that "ignore" feature. It just might help you.

Three posts back... isn't that technically overboob? Or do you call it undershirt? I appreciate any illustrated answer(s).

I think we should examine this more closely.

Regards,

Sink r8.
