btw, so I guess when you ride along you're committed to the whole thing eh? I hope they only let aviators do that or the solos would never get any practice.

I emailed my reps this morning. They have all contacted me. Exemplary. If only my impression of the Negotiators' Notepad was the same.

This is probably going to surprise you... but I agree with most of what you just posted. I am absolutely committed to the idea that our profession is no less important and valuable than it was 10 years ago and for decades prior to that. I have never accepted nor will I accept that a 42% cut, loss of pension, and outsourcing of a large percentage of our jobs is a situation that warrants a traditional approach of getting whatever modest, typical gains as if we are in a normal circumstance/condition. That is absolutely not debatable with me. And you are right, on that I will not budge, and I will continue to try and convince those who think otherwise to see it that way. I think, if you'll really be fair about it, you'll agree that most of the time I am respectful in the way I go about that.
The only place I disagree with your post is when you say that I do not consider other viewpoints. I do listen, and I do critically think about what's being said. If I see something that merits a change in my thinking, I adjust accordingly. If you'll remember, I have compromised on the idea that we should expect to get C2K+COLA all in one bite. I would accept SWA+ as a minimum level of compensation for this contract. I think that's reasonable. And part of the way I got there was some of the other opinions I have read here.

We all have some core beliefs that are not easily changed, and that's healthy. It's what happens on the fringes of that core that interests me, both for me, and for others. When I can walk away thinking I learned something new, or see some flexiblity in others, I think something good happened.
As for the last point, SWA isn't my barometer, but what I want would be compatible with what you're asking. I think you're nervous about the motivation of the group (I have some doubts about how people really fill out their surveys). I think the way to move the group forward is to uncover issues, and let people draw conclusions by themselves. I anticipate that you will probably agree on this last point, but I feel like you often blurr the line between bringing issues to light, and flat-out preaching.
And this is the choir.

Two more posts to 2,000.
What do I get at 2,000? A prize, an automatic nomination to the TOD thread, what?

RES Question: Are days of availability taken into account, or strictly buckets? IOW, 2 day trip in open time. 2 guys available, both in bucket 1. Senior guy has 2 days of availability. Junior guy has 6 days of availability. Who gets the trip assigned?
The 2 day guy. If days of availability = length of open trip then that pilot gets the trip regardless of raw or seniority.

Real Estate Commission Upon Sale of Permanent Residence
The real estate commission incurred by him upon the sale of his permanent residence as the result of being converted from a displacement (that occurs after October 30, 2008) from a base that is closed within 24 months after October 30, 2008, will be reimbursed in an amount not to exceed $35,000, upon submission of reasonable documentation.
They also pay for a partial initial move after completing OE that my initial class was never informed about, at least not that I remember.
