File under the category of general contract outlook:

My wife and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary and going to see Snow Patrol in concert in Vegas this weekend. On their new CD, they have a song titled "Symphony." The key lyric in the song is "If this is all you ever ask for, this is all you'll ever get." Seems germane.

It's an apples/oranges comparison that you are making. Delta was repaid a past loan with DIP money and there are certain advantages to that transaction the way it went down. It wasn't a simple exchange of monies as you are suggesting.

Yes, the advantage is that if Pinnacle emerges as a viable company, Delta makes a **** ton of money.

I think it's more to keep control of the whipsaw than it is to make money off of 9E.

emailed my reps stating I was disappointed with the NNP and thought it was concessionary, and any reduction in pilots required (as the reserve rules in NNP seem to indicate) would be "No" from me. All three emailed me back with several paragraphs, well thought out and not cookie-cutter, telling me they agreed and to wait for the rest which would modify what I was seeing. One of them, the Capt rep, stated he did not agree it looked or was concessionary.
In any case, I was impressed with their fast and personal responses, and their thanks for giving them my opinion. Recommend you grab your reps emails from the Alpa website and zap them a quick email with your opinion/concerns, to make sure they are hearing their constituents.

Hence the reason 9E has to submit their business plan to DAL on a weekly basis. Can you imagine JO enduring something like this? It'd be comical.

In other words if the Pinnacle pilots take major concessions (while mainline pilots are negotiating raises and improvements) then Delta wins.

Wait, aren't we all ALPA? I have to point out the irony in the 'Delta Family' right now. The most underpaid pilots have been driven into BK taking cuts and getting laid off, and the mainline pilots are looking at improvements and profits.
