The instructor did say these wee the outliers and the majority( both civ and mil) were top notch.
Strange tales like these have been around for years:

-- a guy who refused to do walkarounds, saying "It flew in, it'll fly out."
-- a guy who wouldn't wear black shoes
-- a guy on reserve who wouldn't get a phone
-- a guy who brought a lawyer to his sim check

Hard to believe, but I suppose anything's possible.

At Delta? I find that hard to believe. At the regional and ACMI I paid dues at before here, entirely believable.

Yep... washouts are typically due to attitude. Although there was one CPZ fella that couldn't hack it on the DC-9. Apparently their beard growing ability wasn't up to par.

Hey, it can take time. U boat crews DIDN'T start the cruise with a beard, nor always come back (IF they came back) with one ya know.........

There's more to the story than that FYI. He's a great guy and an awesome pilot.

I see your point, I think the smell of the U-boat and the "9" were similar as well.

It would be hard to bid around the the -900, but it wont be "senior."
But you do get a fine view of the countryside, and the blue lights are to die for...

Probably so...but I'm also very confident that Delta will bend over backwards for anyone who displays a positive, professional attitude.

If there's something else going on in one's life, let Delta know. They will work with you and help you. If you clam up, they can't help you, and you've put yourself in a bad situation.

Taking a plane over from a crew on a hot summer day probably felt like hot bunking too.

Side note, when resupply ships pulled up to the U boats and popped the hatch, the smell was often enough to make them vomit.
