I usually get about 300 to 400 hours a year of flying so I believe that should be enough to call me current. I do a week of teaching and then three weeks of flying.

Can I ask you when you got hired?

I thought we had already hired a bunch of new guys then saw this memo below. Quickly approaching half way through 2014 and we have a total of 24 hires? Am I reading this wrong?

Pilot Hiring
New Hire class 11-2014 will began on May 5 bringing the total
number of new hires this year to 24. Flight Operations anticipates hiring approximately at
least 50 pilots per month through April 2015.

Are most retired pilots or medically disqualified pilots?
It was $400 per sim period, but has been increased since some started leaving to be instructors at Boeing. BA pays $600 per sim and I think DAL raised it to $500. Had an instructor on an orientation ride last week who said some DGS guys are being scheduled for 25 sim periods next month, some of them double bangers.

I'd say you'll be set then!

I was a 03/2008 hire.

Not too bad of a living when times are busy. Do they conduct all the DAL sim training except for the check rides or PC checks?

I actually had a friend of mine get hired about that same time and after talking the other day he told me that if he were to apply today that he probably wouldn't get an interview since the competition is so much stiffer now then it was then.

Keep the faith. They are naturally going to hire a lot of "astronauts" at the beginning of the cycle. The process will get more normal later this year.

It was 224 hired this year...not 24.

I just know he was one of the first ones that Delta has called from off the street and that is what he had on his application. I heard Arnie say that 7 driving violations is the cutoff for an interview. So I agree I do not think that driving violations are a really big deal. I have heard that GPA is a big deal when it comes to electronic scoring. I have heard community service is another big deal on the electronic scoring too. I applied last November and have not heard a word. I have almost the same application as his but I am a simulator instructor for a 121 operation. I just can't put my finger on what they are really looking for. I have a lower GPA, failed a checkride and only applied in November. So those variables must make my electronic score much lower than his. I know the SLC Delta Chief Pilot and met Jim Graham, I have like 4 internal letters of recommendation and I'm just dying to know where I sit on the list to be called one day.
If I had to guess, I'd say you're in the fat part of the bell curve for getting a call in the next year or so as the pace of hiring continues to increase. Your chances are pretty good IMO. Good luck.

I know a guy that just got the invite about a month after the fix it email. He is a former U-2 guy, so looks like they are down to quasi-astronauts already
