I have had more than one guy who gave me a recommendation explain that, after the first hand-scoring of the app, the app goes into the Tier 1/2/3 hoppers and isn't re-scored for either 9 or 12 months (apparently used to be 12, recently rolled back to 9?), regardless of how many additional emails to the hiring board are sent.

But, that's all secondhand info from guys on property.

That was what was passed to me from squadron pilots who went to indoc after me. It doesn't make sense to have them keep wasting the man hours hand scoring the same app every month when maybe it is 50 flight hours difference.

I agree, they won't score an ap when the only thing that changed is an additional 50 yrs of flying time. The issue in question is what does Delta do when they get additional internal recs sent straight to the hiring guys (as opposed to recs on AirlineApps.com). In my opinion, the quote above about re-scoring an ap when they get an internal rec is correct. Part of that is based on the source of the quote and part of that is based on the idea that DAL values their pilots' inputs and if one of their own is willing to take the time to submit an internal rec on someone, if the rec sits on a shelf for (possibly) up to 12 months, they are in essence completely ignoring what their valued employee has to say. I just don't see Delta doing that.

However the process works, I'm just extremely grateful I was able to get the interview!

Default New hire question for travel benefits

Can anyone assist me with a benefits question-please feel free to PM me if that's a more appropriate forum for this conversation. How do travel benefits work for family...I understand immediate family can travel on Delta space-A starting day 1 with the company (true?). How do family members use that benefit, and would it include step-parents? I've heard about an ID-90 (sp?) ticket as well. Additional insights, advice, etc are most welcome. Thanks!

Yeah both sets of step parents are included and they fly sa for free domestically and there is a $75 charge each way international plus taxes. You can sign up for travel benefits day one of class. It takes 24 hours for the system to update and allow them to travel. Your family all travels for free domestic and international plus any international taxes. Most ID 90 agreements take affect after 6 months of employment.

Thanks! So all they need to do is show up at the ticket counter once they are listed for travel benefits

You need to make a listing for them on travel net. Once the listing is made it needs to be activated. You can do that on Delta.com or at a kiosk. The agents can also activate a listing but prefer you do it. At that point you just go to the gate. You can monitor where they are on the standby list and their chances of getting onboard in Travelnet. If you activate them online make sure you print out the standby boarding passes to get through security.

For parents, is it both mine and my wife's parents or just parents from my side of the family?

No in-laws, unfortunately. Unless you give your mother-in-law your wife's benefit.

How do you take that to mean an app is only scored once in 12 months? So an applicant with 5 solid internal recs only gets credit for one if they are submitted in the same 12 month period? I'm sorry but that doesn't pass the smell test. This is directly from DeltaNet. Unless it's grossly outdated (highly doubtful) this is pretty set in stone.

So, I stand by my contention that each internal rec generates a review.

Additionally, and maybe this is where the confusion lies, a Delta pilot can only recommend the same candidate once in 12 months. Again, according to the same website on DeltaNet.
Not trying to beat a drum - I just want to make sure prospective applicants don't count on being able to get your app restored within 12 months.

When I was at Indoc almost a year ago, Capt O.C. Miller, the Managing Director of Flying Ops (and AK's boss) was asked this exact question. He was very specific in stating that they will only score an applicant's app once every 12 months - regardless of additional internal recs. He said that some apps may slip through the crack more often, but that Delta's policy is to wait 12 months before a rescore.

Additionally, Post 5515 in this thread back in November, mountainmojo confirmed the same policy is still in effect.

Believe it, or don't believe it, just don't count on getting your app scored again within 12 months. Maybe you'll get lucky, I hope you do. Just plan accordingly.

Good Luck!
