For you poolies, the following are the total "vacancies" and the percentage of each category that were left open after this AE closed. Two caveats, these numbers are only as good as my math, and they are written in sand, as Delta target numbers change often.
ATL73N - 7, 2%
DTW73N - 26, 20%
NYC73N - 35, 20%
ATL320 - 18, 10%
DTW320 - 56, 33%
NYC320 - 61, 50%
ATLM88 - 88, 15%
NYCM88 - 107, 52%
ATL717 - 43, 19%
DTW717 - 35, 35%
LAX717 - 6, 8%
NYC717 - 101, 60%
Of note; over half of the projected number of F/O seats required for NYC320, M88, and 717 will be available over the next 6 months. So if you are looking for the fastest rise in seniority, those MAY be your best bet in the short term. As always, aircraft deliveries and retirements, and some of the planned airport gate expansions (most notably LAX and SEA) will have big impacts on these projections going forward.
Good luck, and welcome to Delta.

Delta almost always has a number of categories with open vacancies after an AE. If they post 500 new seats, with the exception of a few categories where they choose not to backfill, you will have close to 500 seats available after the AE. It is a net sum gain. Those seats are filled with new hires, future AE's, or adjusting the category downward. It is by no means absolute, but having watched it the last couple years, it is as good as any as far as a predictor of where the company will focus new hires for the next couple months (until the next AE.)
