I certainly wouldn't.

So why the angst over a "rumor" of the converse? How did profit sharing become some sacred cow, when for many years on many properties it was worthless? Shoot, I recall the derision when it was negotiated in the first place.

I'm all for keeping the top end of profit sharing. It protects us from looking like schmucks if the company is wildly successful. But why wouldn't I trade some of the bottom end? It's a defined number. Give it to me in my payrates.

It seems many here are making the mistake of believing these good times will last forever.

I'm all for exchanging a "probably" dollar tomorrow for a "definitely" dollar today.
Why? Because none of us want to "buy" a raise with profit sharing. This is the best negotiating environment ever.......we want both. Is there something wrong with that!?!

How about we settle the TA without touching PS. If they want to monetize PS we can do that via the LOA process once we agree on a contract. We shouldn't be doing this inside the section 6 negotiations. I think we all said that in our contract surveys which obviously mean nothing.
A fair point. Thank you.

I don't believe from what I'm reading here that we all agree on monetizing. That was the reason I asked the question.

When we do it is certainly up for discussion. I'm good with doing it anytime, you prefer outside of section six. Again, fair point.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I never suggested that we "buy" anything. I want all the money we can get! I'd just like more of it to be guaranteed.

As far as APA goes..........I think you are comparing apples and oranges. I agree that we broke the log jam with C2012. It's a minor reason for why I voted for it. We have a much better current/active contract than they did for those years. Again, why can't we follow the foot print of negotiations for C2001?

Denny
Damn Denny, you and I are mind-melding. I really wish you were representing us. Everything you espouse, I mean everything, I am in complete agreement with.

Yeah, you are right. Some don't think it is a good idea. I believe that it is, just not inside section 6. I guess it could work if they would not attempt to fund a raise in rates with the value of the monetized PS.

There are two polarizing topics if you read though all the BS the last few weeks.

1. Funding a raise in rates with the value of monetized PS.
2. Sick leave changes.

If we did not have rumors of those two issues, 95% of the hysteria would not be here.

I'm 99.5% certain that both of those will be in the TA that none of us have seen yet. My survey said don't do anything with PS and don't do anything with sick leave unless you want to IMPROVE it. So, if they attempt to monetize PS and have something other than an improved sick leave section, I'm a no vote. I won't even waste my time attending a road show.

In a cynics view yo ud say the nc knew they couldn't quickly get a decent or acceptable pay raise so monetizing PS to get a higher rate was their idea and not the companys.

It was here that people started talking at risk and guaranteed pay while at the same time RA was telling the LCA that PS wouldn't be touched.

Default MEC Meeting Time and Place?

Anybody know when and where the MEC meeting is on Tuesday? Also, am I alone in thinking Tuesday is too soon per the stated seven-day absorption period for MEC members?

Yeah, does seem a bit too soon.

So, where do you sit on all this?
