...that the membership pays the "price" for not falling in line?

This sort of news release makes it seem so:
"...Although investors reacted favorably to the news, the negative vote is a setback for Delta, which set a goal of concluding a labor deal months ahead of schedule.

In a fact sheet for pilots, the union quoted Delta's Chief Executive Officer Richard Anderson as saying, "Failure to ratify the agreement will lead to a very different and longer path that will not result in a better deal. Uncertainty will prevail, and that will not be good for anybody."

Delta said it could not confirm the comment...."

Delta Air Lines pilots reject tentative contract: union | Reuters

Seriously? Our own "Union" is putting out information that is clearly designed to push RA into a credibility corner? These guys need to go. Really, really soon.

Every one of these MEC admins will work as hard as they can to punish us for this. No question. Exactly why they cannot be allowed back in to negotiate. They're poison.

DPA didn't have a stronger supporter than me. I think my first card was among the first 20. With that in mind, here's what I think our priorities should be:

1. Recall all YES voting reps...because this current rep assembly will back the current administration to the end.

2. Recall the MEC chairman and most of the entire MEC administration.

3. Re-engage with management per Section 6 of the RLA while running negotiations with professionals who have never had an affiliation with ALPA.

4. If ALPA national DARES to stick its nose in our negotiations or try to threaten us with funds withholding, immediately start the drive to replace ALPA as the bargaining agent.

5. If ALPA backs down, they get to stay on as Delta pilots' agent for world political issues. If they don't back down, they're gone.

This gives us the best of all worlds. We force ALPA to change from within by using the leverage of 12,000 Delta pilots. If they refuse, it will be the arrogant end of a union that lost its way.

I don't always agree with Carl - but I would highly support this plan as a rational, realistic and effective road to getting where we need to be - back in the driver's seat.

We need to drive the agenda, put labor back on the table and re-engage with a freshly invigorated crew that is pruned of all the deadwood dragging us down - from DALPA and National. Let's flex some muscle, not confrontationally, but in frank, professional discourse. Let's remind our leadership, and the Company's that we are a professional, dedicated lifetime asset, and expect to be treated as such.

They may be riding in the carriage, but we hold the reigns. ...and if you don't want to end up in the ditch, might I suggest you don't kick the minions.

Hear hear.

The fact that this is deliberate, measured, and reasonable must drive the Carl-haters crazy.
I'm in.
