Negotiations Update: On December 22, 2015, your Negotiating Committee met with Delta’s negotiators to re-engage on Section 6 negotiations, presenting the Company with a proposal as directed by your MEC. (For details of the proposal, please see Negotiators’ Notepad 15-16, available on the Delta MEC website under the Negotiations Contract 2015 banner.) As of today, the Company has not responded, and no further negotiating sessions have been scheduled.

I'd be very surprised if the company sits on its hands until mediation. By doing so they lose control of the process. They have much to gain by inking a new agreement in a timely manner. They have problems that need solved and investors who need reassuring. Whatever the case though, we didn't sign a concession filled agreement for a small net pay increase. We retained higher paying 757's and still gained more 100 seat flying. Our profit sharing remains intact and projected profits are astronomical. One thing for them to remember; you can pay me now, or pay me later, the price will only increase over time. It's in their best interest to find a reasonable solution sooner than later.
Not sure how either side loses control over the process via mediation.

There's a pretty good chance each and everyone of us is making a lower hourly rate than we make over 10 years ago, without a pension and with basically catastrophic health insurance for which we pay quite a bit.

If United votes 99% in favor, I think we will see a lower counter offer. If they vote 51%, our offer will be accepted before the United results are even published.
