The Delta pilot that the OP talked about may have been a FFDO. If he was then he wouldn't have been allowed to ride the F/A jumpseat.

Maybe he just dumped one or all of the cabin crew on that flight.

I've both asked for the courtesy, and offered the courtesy. Commuting is hard enough. Why make it harder than it has to be?

As the OP on this thread I must say I appreciate all the passionate responses to my thread. The fact is (after the fact) I realize most DAL guys would take the FA jumpseat to get an offline guy in the cockpit especially on a short flight on the MD-88. I will ask after all is said and done though on that rare occurrence when this comes up while you're the working crew please kindly suggest the gesture. Our culture at JB, however wrong it maybe, is to always help the offline guy out..

if someone gives up the jumpseat for you, acknowledege them with eye contact. Don't just look away and walk past them in the jetway. Happened last week to me.
