Wow. Here's to hoping guys like you are the minority, or we truly are eff'd. Management couldn't have written that post any better (for themselves).
Passengers absolutely do not pay your salary. They pay a galactic eff-load more than that, and management scrapes off a sliver here and there to keep the masses only marginally dissatisfied.
No catch 22 for me - the power is in our unity (with exceptions like yourself), but the decision is in the hands of our masters.

I'll be nicer to unicorns and tell the passengers to go **** themselves.

Scheduled. But if the trip is delayed in the actual operation.
5-G-2 Schedules shall contain a minimum of five (5) hours pay value, averaged, for each day in a Trip. This provision does not apply to publicity and courtesy flights. If a Pilot was assigned or reassigned to be released from a Trip before the start of a day, and if in the Actual Operation he is released after the start of that day but before 0400, that day shall not be included when calculating the pay value in this Section 5-G-2.

Not sure I'm advocating either. You said not going the extra mile is like cutting your own throat. You seem to live in a world of extremes...you do know there's a middle ground, right?

Understand....but it sounds like our Delta brothers and sisters dont get extra days pay for trips that are scheduled to end 0000 to 0159. Maybe the extra 15 minutes every day makes up for that i dont know. All I can say is i like those trips since I like late shows anyway, and if I get done at 1215am its like doing a 3 day for 4 days of pay. thats all. I have spoken.

OK I guess. You do realize that it is really cutting your own throat though. Management still gets theirs, and when you drive passengers away it only cuts into our profit sharing. It's a catch 22. I don't know what the answer is, but if that is what you choose to do that is your business. I still choose to help the people that ultimately pay my salary.
standing by for flaming.

A strike will hurt passengers and cut into your profit sharing.

Perfect example of a "little" QOL issue that I was personally told by a former rep wouldn't happen "that much" was the 00:00 to 02:00 carve out for an additional pay period. A little look at the bid package and I see over 20 pairings with a release between those times. 40 pilots not getting an extra 5:15. 20 pilots not getting an extra day off. I see that as 4 pilot positions given up (2 Capt/2 FO) Thats in only one category in one base.

How about the DECADES that reserves didn't get paid the same as regular line holders? How about the DECADES we had three day trips that paid 11 hours or less, if they ended with a redeye. No one asked for those in C2K, and we didn't get them. But we did fix all that a few years ago. And yet you complain about a handful of theoretical positions because of the 0000-0200 carve out without acknowledging how much better our trip construction rules are (see ATL-UIO 3 day that used to pay less than 11, now pays 15.45, etc just one example of many). Hmm...

The NMB won't allow it.
However-
If we don't have a contract by this summer then we are going to start looking for legal ways to put economic pressure on the corporation. There are many options. We will not violate the RLA status quo but customers are absolutely going to see and be affected by this labor dispute and yes, the company's profits will be reduced.
Economic pressure. Same concept as a strike except on a smaller scale.
I hope you will be on board if and when that becomes necessary.

I think we all know an actual Section 6 self-help "strike" is never going to happen.
The NMB won't allow it.
