You seem like you need it.
What airline do you fly for?
Malone has mentioned getting an agreement sometime "this summer" in nearly every communication since he was elected.
From the May 28 Chairman's Letter:
I continue to see a window of opportunity to reach a new tentative agreement this summer.
Here's from the May 2 letter:
We stand ready to help Mr. Bastian write the next chapter in Delta’s remarkable success story and are hopeful May 2, 2016 will bring a new sense of urgency to management to negotiate the contract we have earned. It is now our turn to fully reap the benefits of our deep sacrifices over the past 10 years and we remind management of our goal to obtain a strongly ratifiable agreement by the busy summer season.

How exactly would you have worded an ultimatum without being publicly alarmist?
Please write it out so we can compare it to Malone's.
The reason I say this is because from Chief executive (labor) to Chief executive (management) that was an ultimatum...How you dont see that is what is beyond me.

So we call it a "goal" or a "window of opportunity". Whatever.
I'm just asking you to be ready for what's about to happen if management ignores our "goal".

We seem to have plenty of ultimatums around here. My MEC speaks for me.

I think we all know an actual Section 6 self-help "strike" is never going to happen.
The NMB won't allow it.
However-
If we don't have a contract by this summer then we are going to start looking for legal ways to put economic pressure on the corporation. There are many options. We will not violate the RLA status quo but customers are absolutely going to see and be affected by this labor dispute and yes, the company's profits will be reduced.
Economic pressure. Same concept as a strike except on a smaller scale.
I hope you will be on board if and when that becomes necessary.

While I'm not an expert:
1. As we move through mediation towards the "impasse" and 30 day cooling off period the union could go to the membership for a strike vote.
2. After the cooling off period (30 days, I believe) there are a couple more checkpoints before being released to "self help" (strike). Once a strike and strike date and time are declared, the POTUS has to declare a Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) in order to stop the strike.
So, while a real strike may never occur the uncertainty associated with a strike (including among all Delta Pax) will occur and result in some issues with our investors and analysts that will put pressure on the company.
If I've made any errors in my summation please feel free to correct it. This is mostly from memory in the lead up to C2K (I was still on probation but remember it well).
