Wrong. That new hire (or 4) is going to the 7ER sim either way... and on the same day. All that changes is they send them to NYC at completion instead of ATL. And they don't even have to do OE out of their assigned base. These senior pilots who had a bid in for March could be held in their current base for up to 6 months before converting, so there's plenty of slop.
Even if this is all very last second, all it would have taken is an email from CR to whomever is running indoc on day one... "Scratch those four ATL 7ER slots I gave you on Friday... you've actually got 1 DTW 7ER, 1 SEA 7ER and 2 NYC 7ER". And wth that, four 7ER folks senior to these new hires would have the base (ATL) their seniority should have yielded them. Too easy.

Sorry to disagree Ted, but they can't award you the ATL position just because you're on the ER, if it would be offered to you then it would also have to be offered to ANY pilot who wanted it, regardless of whether they were qualified on the ER or not. Just because you wanted to stay on the same fleet doesn't mean that every time it is the same or even that it wouldn't have happened in this case.

Hopefully those who rebid the NYC7ER knew in advance that it wouldn't necessarily be trivial AEing to their base of choice. I'm sure those stuck commuting to reserve in NYC right now have really enjoyed the 4 noreasters in the last month.

Class drops this week
I heard from a reliable source that the class that started this past Monday will be doing their third different class drop selection tomorrow. What is going on down there? That would have been rough to agonize over that decision three different times!

"Agonize over that decision...."
YGTBFSM. Be psyched to have the job and know that in a couple months or years that you'll be where ever you want to be. It's an airline job, so nothing happens fast or exactly the way we want it to for everyone!
