Previous bid or not, it is BS to give new hires a base that could have gone to someone senior to them. As long as crew resources is filling slots (training and the line), it shouldn't matter what name or seniority number is in those slots. If our contractual language allows this, it should be fixed.

I'm only addressing contractual legality and requirements. The contractual position is that if you didn't bid on it when it was opened in an AE then the company may award it to a new hire. It's basically like it was at that point awarded to a new hire and just the name was left to be filled in when offered in the class. The contractual key for whether there's anything that can be done about it now is that it is leftover from a previous AE where there were insufficient bidders.

No seat locks and free to move about with good seniority. Have ATL 7ERB as my standing bid. I don't recall seeing ATL 7ERB offered on the March AE, but then to turn around and find out they award it to new hires in the class drop right after this last AE is bit surprising - Baradium, Sailing, what am I missing?
Would be zero cost to Delta. I'm already trained on the ER, and they can send the New Hire to NYC.
I'll laugh if one or two of the ATL guys actually WANTED NYC but wanted ER more than 320s.

Same boat, I wasn't expecting to get it (super junior) but NOBODY got it. But new hires JUST got it.

Definitely something I’d call my reps or contract admin and get clarification and if you were wronged start processing the grievance process to correct the mistake.

This last AE closed and results were published the same day. But others AEs can take days before the results are out.

It was probably an unfilled position from the big bid last year. Once a position goes unfilled, it does not have to be offered on subsequent bids. It can be used for new hire positions. This is my understanding of the process even though I may not agree with it.

It’s probably not zero cost to Delta. They want to keep every sim full. The process allows them some ability to place new hires based on sim availability. Had they awarded those slots to pilots qualified on the 767 they likely would have lost that sim capacity and been forced to put new hires into categories where they were short on capacity resulting in longer training times.
Even if this is all very last second, all it would have taken is an email from CR to whomever is running indoc on day one... "Scratch those four ATL 7ER slots I gave you on Friday... you've actually got 1 DTW 7ER, 1 SEA 7ER and 2 NYC 7ER". And wth that, four 7ER folks senior to these new hires would have the base (ATL) their seniority should have yielded them. Too easy.
