From what I've been told, NH classes in the foreseeable future should only be seeing NYC.

In a way it is, but we have such a huge fleet "armada" that it can be rapidly done with very little effect on yields. Most of the "displacement" can happen with not backfilling and DH'ing crews for a few months if needed.

When is this supposed deadline for the nav stuff anyway? And is it the same standards out of all 3 airports? If even one of the 3 wasn't as strict, that would make the transition very easy.

Agreed. The 4 month upgrades will likely be gone forever too. The only reason it happened in the first place is because it was the NYC M88 category. New hires will have no problem getting NYC during their first year and usually right away.

Sorry if I'm behind a little here, but what's changing in NYC that restricts the mad dog?

NYC will always be junior.... there simply isn't much compelling there to make it otherwise for Delta at least (I'm from NY, no offense). Difficult commute, cover 3 airports, extremely high cost of living, "junior airplanes", etc... ATL 717 is still considered preferable to NYC 737/AB for the most part barring locals. From what I've heard LGA has the closest deadline with RNAV 13 approaches being the restricting factor. Apparently JFK will have similar restrictions sometimes later than that. Let's see what happens in the next couple of years as the C-series comes online vs the 717.

NYC will continue to be a base in the meantime with slight shifts in start points between LGA/JFK/EWR until the FMS/GPS mods are done on the -88/-90.

I am surprised I haven't heard more about the newsletter a few weeks ago about downsizing narrowbody NYC flying. Displacements coming?

Lots of moving parts to be looked at. They might just keep the crews there until the airframes get the GPS mods.

Displacements will probably happen organically since its the least popular base. However, I doubt any "downsizing" will be very much. It's NYC. One the biggest markets in the world.

What does it mean to be displaced from the most junior seat in the most junior base in the system - other than a paid move to a base that many Pilots would prefer.

Seriously though - they could probably turnover 90% of the junior narrow-body seats in 2 months with guys bidding off if they stopped sending new hires there.
