I am curious - some of you seem to think producing a balanced Pro/Con paper is beyond DALPAs capabilities.
Well if our union can't produce a valid Pro/Con paper - it will not matter because at that point we will be doomed.![Cool](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
Seriously? Too hard to Produce?
How about this:
Widening the TALV +/- 1 hour.
Pro: Allows Pilots more flexibility in building schedules.
Con: Provide the company more productivity in high tempo months resulting in less Pilots required.
You guys are right - There is no way DALPA could do that.![Smile](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Not sure which post your referring to but I was told by one rep that the polling data was being ignored. I asked a rep on the opposite side of the issue if that was the case and he said that they now feel email is better. The reps have beat around the issue in newsletters.
Conventional wisdom suggests that the "middle 1/3rd of this pilot group" (guys who have NOT made up their mind) are the ones that will ultimately decide whether a TA passes. I would suggest that you get a better percentage of those guys via an UNSOLICITED phone survey. IMO, better data than the emails to the reps.

After thinking about this, I think polling data IS probably more accurate. With polling data, it's UNSOLICITED, meaning you get a wide cross section of pilots on all sides of the issues. Much more representative I believe. However, emails sent to reps come from a guy who obviously feels strongly on one side of the 12/7 spilt, and in this case, the 12 (majority) are going to both receive more emails from guys aligning with their views and might also give more "weight" to those emails that align with their viewpoint.

Line pilots deserve to see this data after a TA is ratified. We will see if it is accurate. The read on the pilot group was way off last time. Build confidence and release it when this is over.

Maybe. The middle third is also the apathetic until there is something to vote on. Do they answer phone calls from unknown callers? I haven't been polled, if they don't get a pick up do they just move on? Is it only during EDT business hours? Is there a sufficient explanation of the issues or time to contemplate the questions? I truly don't know because I've never been called.

I don't know how anyone who wants to talk to the pollsters hasn't had the opportunity- I get the New Hampshire number calling at least once every two months. I don't answer because I don't participate in polling or surveys unless I'm being compensated for my time, but I assumed if I was getting that many calls pretty much everyone had been given a shot. Not scoffing claims of not being polled, just surprised.
