While I think wearing a hat indoors is dorky, just as much as wearing a tie with a short sleeved shirt, it is nothing more than a dress code mandated by the company.
Read the book, Dwight. You don't have to wear short sleeve shirts with your tie if you don't want to. Just wear the blazer. The hat being optional is a contract provision. It was negotiated in and I'm sure management would like it removed but they'll have to pay if they really want that. Until they do they can't mandate you to wear a hat. Maybe you should reference these things before you fact check someone.

I'm just tired of the hat drivel. People need to shut up about it already. It's an option for us now, enjoy the option. Wear it or don't, it doesn't matter one bit.

If you go to Delta, it will no longer be an option. You will have to wear it. It's really very simple, and has nothing to do with wages. It only has to do with whining.

My reference to the belt is that it is part of the uniform. If Delta tells EDV management that the hat is a required part of the uniform... I foresee a lot more whining in our future. While we are wearing the hat.

I think everyone is very aware the a Delta pilot is required to wear a hat. If Delta management tells Endeavor management to make the pilots wear hats, they have to negotiate that contractual item with our union. They can't just impose it because they are Delta. That's why people don't want to give it away, it's negotiating capital. I agree with you that everyone can make the choice. It's what optional means. It can't be forced on us though, it would result in contractual improvements. That's why a lot of people don't want others listening to the "suggested mandate" coming out of C Tower. Don't give them what they want for nothing if it could be a result of increased compensation.

You are right it's not about wages and all about looking like a tool and being intimidated by management to wear it. The KOOL AID is strong. These fools think it will help them land that delta job.

Unfortunately I can't change the title of this thread to "Meritoriousness of the Hat at 9E."

Meanwhile, is the link broken for others? I got a message saying the link didn't work.

Edit: Here is a new link ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8u...ew?usp=sharing )

I have disabled the original link, but cannot edit my original post.

Correction, while our suitcases wear the hat... Ever see a few of the old NWA pilots' trick for that?

Hey guys,
I know the hat is a hassle for you guys but I'm a new hire and I have found many advantages to wearing the hat.

1.Gate agents are more responsive.
2. Always get this my way with the ground crew.
3. Auto upgrades all the time.
4. Ladies LOVEEV IT
5. PAX Love it

Basically if you don't wear your hat it's not considered professional by a lot of people.

If you want to defend yourself you have the right to do so. But out in the real world image is important. And if you don't care it's ok too. But have some respect for individuals who do.

Thanks

I'm not sure if this is a serious and poorly worded post or some type of satire...

Should also add: people won't notice ear buds or the backpack as much when wearing the hat
