Quote: We are overstaffed, but a large number of reserves are dropping their entire month, and picking up flying off the tradeboard, or opentime. That's what is causing the lack of coverage on certain days. They drop because they have to sit 10 ready reserves a month otherwise, hell I would too, if I were in that position.
If that were true, I'd be able to drop reserve and I cannot...but I'll put in a grievance for it now, just in case since it's obviously not being done in seniority order.

If it isn't being done by seniority order, then absolutely drop a grievance on that. Take screenshots to prove it, and you'll be golden.

Last night I talked with a 15 year CA sitting in the MSP crew room on ready...

But NYC is where I was talking about, cannot speak to every other base...

Where did you pull the data above? It would help if we could see this info for NYC.

Flica. Check the crew resource report.

Pathetic that every major has #1 shorter upgrade times and #2 shorter line holder captain times (I won't even bother about the ready reserve rant) than we have in MSP. And 99.9% are lifers here that despite all that still don't look to leave.

I think the LCR escalation to short call reserve provision is one of the best things in our contract. It’s a minimum of 6 hours of extra pay every day until they return you to long call. I rarely bid LCR, but I had one month with almost 110 credit to fly six days with a couple of overnights and it was all due to SCE. That is an efficient days worked to dollars earned ratio.

I sympathize with the guys on short call who want to fly more but don’t get called. Long call escalations are great though.

I feel worse for the guys/girls that don’t want to fly a lot but get stuck doing trips because other’s drop their schedule and pickup out of their domicile flying

Which would be great if you lived in base. Commuting to short call and flying 10-20 hours per month is not cool.

It seems to me, by some of the comments here, y’all think reserves are just wide open to drop days. Several comments about reserves dropping days and picking up flying. That is completely untrue. I get on FLICA as it opens every month to try and drop reserve days. Generally I am able to drop 1 or maybe 2 days a month. I pick up from the TB and work anywhere from 3-6 of my days off just to get some flying and make a little money. Trust me, reserves aren’t dropping days like you think they are. They are just working on days off because we have to if we want to get “ahead” a little bit. And if you all think it is so easy to drop and then pick up whatever you want, I invite you to bid down to reserve and have at it yourselves. I’ll gladly take your line.
