I would not be surprised to see us hit 500k in the next 7 days, but I will be surprised if we get to 70% of total 2019 numbers this year due to the international slump. Maybe we’ll get to 70-80% of domestic flying (non-international connection domestic flying). I suspect that would probably result in a 10-20% furlough, absent another significant compounding factor. If we did somehow get to 70% of total 2019 numbers, I think we all might somehow scrape by.

I actually mostly agree with you here. I think Southwest is winning the frequency game in many markets (and are also blocking middle seats), but there has been a fair amount added to our schedule for the last part of June and that’s good to see.

Delta is trying to win the customer by optics; blocks middle seats, reduced capacity, wearing a mask.
Other airlines, LCCs, are not doing this. Give it a few more weeks and people will sit in the middle seat for a $50 fare to Vegas.

Exactly. Big Daddy is going to get caught with their pants around their ankles with a decimated network and 60% load cap BS. If you're purchasing a ticket you know and accept the risk. Nobody is being won over with these 'optics' IMO. Just losing money and going to get absolutely gassed by the competition if they really plan to block the middle seat and load cap at 60% until the end of Sept. Even the most loyal of customers will jump ship if it takes them 32hrs or gets flat out denied trying to book an itinerary.

The people who won’t fly due to Covid wont change their mind because of a 60% capacity or a blocked middle seat. You had the one off blogger who tried to make a big fuss about a packed AA plane but that quickly died down.

It’s s been that way for awhile, Allegiant is back up to 85% of their flights. Spirit will be 550 flights in July from 700-750 (pre covid), and they are not blocking middle seats since the demands are there.

I find it utterly amazing and stupid that DL is cutting service to these stations. Ed boy is too worried about social injustices.
Here are the 11 affected stations:
Aspen, CO (ASE)
Bangor, ME (BGR)
Erie, PA (ERI)
Flint, MI (FNT)

New Bern/Morehead/Beaufort, NC (EWN)
Peoria, IL (PIA)
Santa Barbara, CA (SBA)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA (AVP)
