The only two relevant contract provisions (currently) for Delta are: 1) Flow down rights to Compass, or the requirement to park aircraft if that flow down no longer exists. The fact that Compass is no more is basically OBE by the fact that more than enough airplanes are parked. 2) If they furlough anyone hired prior to Dec 2016, then they are not allowed to fly anything beyond 70 seat aircraft. Whether that means an MEL to remove 6 seats from service or physical removal hasn’t been tested, and the UNA designation on the most recent displacement bid, and the number associated with furlough warning notices, both stop short of crossing that threshold. It appears, currently, that Delta could run 100% of its authorized DCI aircraft (subtracting the former Compass birds) without worrying how many mainline aircraft are parked.

the line was drawn for UNAs 4 days before contractually they’d have to take seats out. They’ve told us even with that they’ll be over staffed by 1000 pilots, even with retirements and approximately 600 early retirement takers... so that Line drawn is a moving target.
Company and ALPA are discussing moving that December 2016 date to April 2020 to protect Mainline pilots, would come with certain furlough protections for pilots, with reduced block hours required on schedules
