LOA doesn’t apply, if you are a FO, you get FO pay. If you are a CA, CA pay.

I did answer it, Pal. The LOA expired December 31st 2015. And I doubt the company will agree to another LOA protecting CA pay. The whole point in downgrading is to save $$$$$$$

Would this perhaps be a good time to suggest the reps look into dual seat qualification? Reserve dual seat qualified can fill in for both FO and CA sick calls while still getting CA pay. Saves the company money and keeps those employed with higher pay rates.

Ehh. Let me counter argue that. At other regionals, their CA's are dual qualed which makes downgrading easier. Here at Endeavor, it cost money to downgrade (training cost, OE etc) which can be an incentive to downgrade less CA's. Or downgrade CA's over a longer period of time.

And at other carriers that have dual qualed CA's, there is usually a blended rate for flying in the right seat. Horrible idea IMO.

I sure hope that they don’t entertain that idea again!!!!! That pill was hard to swallow. I myself was a junior captain on reserve occasionally flying with downgraded captains still retaining their captain pay. They were all ex Colgan, I believe. Anyway, they were actually making more money than reserve captains because they were bidding as a senior FO and getting 18-20 days off and picking up trips. They still had more days off than reserve captains, with a much better quality of life. Most open time trips back then were at 200%. There were many unhappy captains and Fo’s back then regarding the company’s, but mostly the Union for allowing that preferential treatment to Colgan downgrades

Yeah. Pay protection for downgrades and dual qual captains just puts a band aid on the wounds.

It's a different situation this time, they won't bring back that LOA, it was a reaction after the downgraded captains started to lawyer up.

The integrated seniority list was a mess after the merger.

I have to admit RayRay is correct the LOA did expire but the previous LOAs did happen on a downturn so such negotiations could still be had if downgrades were to come. Where he brings up the whole idea is cost saving yes this is correct but cost savings is much more then an hourly rate it’s benefits (very large) and training so if they were to cut pilots there is a chance at CA pay for downgrades but it’s not a sure things.
