Default I Hate This Place

I’ve spent 5 years working hard to deliver. Multiple roles, scarifies, never calling in sick. Before Covid I was supposed to participate in the DGI. I’m now over 1.5 years from flowing. My quality of life is shot. I’m burned out doing OE, because we’re not hiring quality candidates. I’ve been junior assigned over 11 times this year. And best of all, I may be on reserve next month out of ATL as skywest takes over that base. All for ice cream sandwiches and rotten egg/turkey “crew meals” that aren’t even stocked half the time. Our management has failed us.

I don't really like it either. More than 1/2 my class left rather than upgrade.

Never called in sick? Are you even a pilot?

Has the kool aid soured for you?

It's impressive watching one of the company's biggest cheerleaders make a complete 180.

It's like being unplugged from the matrix

If you're an LCA, have you tried applying to UA & AA? Any interest in Fedex? Attended job fairs? I get that you have worked hard for the Delta brand and obviously you care. I worked at a large corp for over a decade (not an airline) and I can tell you right now, as much as it sucks, we are all replaceable and just a number on a spreadsheet.

Do what is right for your family. If that means a seniority number at UA a year ahead of the flow to Delta then so be it. People who are in AVIATE and the dream is UA are just as frustrated as you, same at the AA WO people waiting years for flow while other brand regional pilots are going straight to AA. It's all business and that is all the companies care about, not the person.

If you're burnt being an LCA and aren't being compensated/treated fairly then can you step down from being an LCA? Why are you doing it if the company doesn't care? Vote with your actions & your feet.

Let me guess, you signed the contract and took the money rather than continue to update your apps.

Nice. What a title for a thread… YIKES.

All these pay increases from the regionals but the one that gets your pilot group riled up like clockwork is SkyWest receiving big pay increases. It was fake doom and gloom posts for the last few weeks but now you’re actually crying about it after the breaking news coming out of St. George. Your pilot groups obsession with everything Skywest is unhealthy.

I can’t say I feel bad though. Not too long ago your pilot group was jumping on APC flaunting how great your “pilot retention program” that NEVER WENT TO VOTE was. It’s funny how even non union SkyWest with SAPA comprehends the importance of allowing their pilot group to vote on changes to their contracts. Oh that’s right, they don’t have a “contract” lol, keep pushing that BS.

Has nothing to do with Skywest. I’m happy for you.

Welcome to the party. Just be thankful you aren’t making 25k / year flying into Sault Ste. Marie in January…in an actual regional airplane. Times are changing..be happy you are have a job..things can change in a second. Something most newbs haven’t experienced.

Remember this…you can always walk away if it’s that bad. I think half my class is no longer in aviation. That was 20 years ago.
