Anyone have any good info on the Flica "expense reports."

Bought a house last year and plan on itemizing this year on taxes, is their report really worth the cost?

I used it last year after not itemizing the prior 4 years. I forget how much it saved me but it was well worth the cost. Took a little bit to figure out how to use it with turbo tax but not terrible. I'm getting it again this year, fwiw.

I use a guy who charged 30 bucks. Usually it adds up to 300-500 dollars in returns. If you don't meet the standard deduction then don't bother. I think you will though with a house. For example married filing jointly is $12,000. I deduct cell phone use 1,000, union dues 1500, mortgage interest 3500, per diem around 4,000, charitable donations 500, hotels purchased commuting 1200 ( or crashpad) home internet for bidding/ company email 400, luggage/ uniforms above reimbursed amount 250, deltanet fee 50, student loan interest if you have it. Also keep in mind that when you filled out your w4 your withholdings will play a factor in your return. I always claim 0 single to maximize my return. But that is giving uncle Sam an interest free loan every year. To each their own.

You're walking a slippery slope with some of those deductions. But good luck with keeping as much of your money as possible!

Oh, and don't forget your home owner's insurance.

Homeowners insurance can only be deducted if you have a home business or you are renting out part of your property as a landlord. What deductions of mine do you consider slippery? My uncle is a CPA and has gone over it. Just curious?

The three that caught my eye were crashpad, cell phone, and internet.

My favorite was a buddy deducting his whole cable bill because of the weather channel.

Can we deduct the chiropractor for care after carrying the flight case? How about therapist bills for the snowflakes that can't handle the ridicule from other airlines that we still have paper charts? :-D
