Wonder how long the union has known about this.

Mainline flight ops has known about it since at least January of this year.

I imagine that our MEC would have found out shortly after that

What's wrong with the current way they/we attract pilots?

Delta can see that they won't get enough pilots in the future, hence they are trying new ideas to hopefully cover the flying that they have planned. Same goes for EVERYONE else, including AA/UAL/UPS/FedEx/SWA+++++.

If the flight schools can get these new electric trainers online soon enough, then the worst of the Pilot Shortage may be averted. If not, I think UAL/AA/DAL will have to hire kids of HS/college age and train them, just like the Mil does.

Mainline flight ops knows about it because they are responsible for this project. Let’s just say its development goes back many, many months. As for the 9E MEC being made aware, I’m not sure when that happened but all stakeholders were briefed when mainline flight ops felt it was the appropriate time.

So the latest CDR pages pushed out on the content locker have all the 9E bases....and EWR...I may be a bit naive (check my sn) but why EWR? Do we operate out of other places that have coded departure routes? Or is that just the most convenient thing to copy and paste from delta?

We go to RDU from EWR so it’s possible we could get one out of there. That’s really the only place I can think of out if EWR where we could use one.

This isn't new, EWR CDR's have been in the locker for some time now. It's considered a New York airport. It'd be nice to have them for our other hubs, but it's really rare that they are used elsewhere and they are very labor intensive to program everything behind the scenes for us (the company as a whole) to use them. If you have any questions about them, the person to talk (or email) to is the manager of dispatch.

Ask Bill video was interesting. Maybe a text message feauture with scheduling in the future which would be nice. And again confirmed going from 6 to 3 regionals and anticipates some base openings associated with our planned growth.

Endeavor CEO on video to the company. Confirmed Delta's plan to decrease to 3 Regionals and expand 9E from about 30% to 40% share, possibly more, starting next year. Also confirmed that's why hiring is back on already. Wasn't really a secret, but most of us hadn't got the message firsthand. Nice to get it out there officially. Thanks.
