Yes on leather jackets.
Hats are optional according to our contract. For some reason the new hires all seem to have them, even though they don't have to. Among people who have been here a while hats are pretty rare, I'd guess 1-2% wear the hat. Are they going to be mandatory at some point? Who knows. If the company gives the union something to change the contract, then yeah, they'll probably become mandatory. Until then, do what you want. I find the hat to be a major pain.

Well, shirts run $12-23, pants are $55, and a tie is $10 at endeavor.crewoutfitters.com. Assuming 4/2/1, that's about $200. Throw in a blazer for $150 (unless you want to be a real man and go leather), and if common core really works, that's about $350 before tax. At $15 a paycheck, that would be around 12-13 months after tax I'd guess.

Looks like Delta isn't the only carrier ditching 50 seat jets

Do those coming in with experience on the CRJ seem to have an advantage, because they're familiar with plane? Or a disadvantage because they think they know it all and actually they have deficiencies they need to realize and work on?
Also, in another post you said people need to be good on basic IFR knowledge- can you elaborate on some specifics? What sort of weaknesses are you seeing that could be shored up before arriving?

Yea I've experienced that too or when it gets warm for a couple of days up north and they can't turn the heat off. Is it required that we wear the white shirt under the sweater? I don't remember seeing anything about it in the FOM other than the guidance on button placement.

I do agree about the uniform store pushing the hats.
