I understand why RTPs would apply. Cadets? For SJS and a quick couple of thousand bucks, sure. Why folks would apply off the street to Envoy in the past six months, though, is beyond me. Sorry.

What if they lives in an Envoy base and don’t want to commute? Seems logical enough

There are still better options, ESPECIALLY now.

There is no Envoy base that doesn't have better options...

ORD, MIA, LGA, DFW... none of these are places where Envoy is the only game in town.

RAH and Endeavor have long waits for classes and SkyWest well they aren’t the greatest option. Flow is a powerful tool for the company. New hires love it and when I have a jump seater the topic always comes up. Also people think we are going to get raises anyway. Union and company have already said it was likely to happen. NH think it’s a when not if we get raises.

As another poster said, every other regional option has a long wait for class or they’re not the best option. If this is the case, Envoy seems logical

And as others have pointed out. There is a reason Envoy doesn’t have a wait and others do. Because they are better options. Would you rather wait for something better, or make a bad choice sooner? Kind of a no brainer if you put it in perspective.

Really??!! The company has said it is going to happen??!! Please enlighten everyone. Because the company is the reason it hasn’t happened.

I agree it is going to happen. It will have to... eventually, but no time soon. And every new hire that comes her thinking it will happen prolongs it.

Unless you are he11 bent to work for American and don’t have a degree, there are better routes to majors than Envoy and “flow”.

And I encourage everyone to get a degree in the field of your choice BEFORE you take any commercial flying job. It makes you a more rounded individual and more employable when that day comes you CAN’T fly, whether it is caused by furlough or medical or whatever. Pretty good chance of seeing a period of unemployment in the aviation business.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if some of today’s new hires lose their job one day to outsourcing and or automation. Airlines will change overnight for cost savings if they think they can make more money.

Just remember: You can lose pay, seniority, your job, your license or medical, but no one can ever take away your education.

If other regional have a list waiting for classes that are full and envoy does not, how is this good for envoy? What they pick up the left overs, is that it.

I think for a lot of people the logic behind picking envoy is pretty simple. If you want to work for AA and you live near ORD or DFW then envoy is still your best choice. If you’re any further east and you want to be at AA then go PSA.

AA does not currently (and won’t in the future) hire many pilots outside of their WO flows and the military. I also think that United will shift to a similar hiring policy by treating C5 and XJT like their “wholly owned” feed. Delta has endeavor but still seems to be doing a lot of hiring OTS from other regionals which is a good thing.

My point is that it seems like someone who is just entering this industry may feel like they need to “pledge allegiance” to one legacy carrier by putting in their time at a wholly owned and/or their preferred regional carrier.
