That’s what I had thought as well until set straight about those 6-7 on lease. But a lease is pretty close to ownership for those purposes. Even the majors actually leases a number of their planes and in fact have in the past sold and leased back planes as a method of generating cash liquidity.

They supposedly said on the P2P call to expect it today. I am going to go with at least 55 downgrades on the 145, but also 65 upgrades on the 175 to staff the planes that are yet to arrive. Some of the DEC's will be pushed to FO, and senior FO's will upgrade along with senior 145 captains jumping over to the 175.

Miserable (unless they live in base) and on reserve even longer?

As a whole, this doesn't seem all that bad. 15 more CA vacancies than CA displacements. Seems WAY more about shifting staff to cover the shifting fleet than anything about up coming furloughs.

That said, direct entry captains are going get royally shafted on this bid. Senior FOs they used to fly with will upgrade to 175 first and when the DECs displacements are run, they'll get to be their FOs on the 175. That can't make for a fun 4 day.
