Someone has to operate that plane until it’s retired. Or do you think it will still stay heavily staffed by senior guys up top?

I guess it depends on how many senior guys vacancy over (or proffer to displace... I really hope the senior guys that want to go take this route). I was talking to one lifer recently that said he still planed and sticking with the 145 for another couple years. But yeah, it's conceivable that they all move at once on this bid and few, if any, DECs are displaced.

Maybe I'm missing something here.
75 new capt positions and 120 new f/o positions.
losing 60 capt positions and 60 f/o positions.
where does the union get 60 capt being displaced to f/o. Or can I not do simple math anymore.

It's a vacancy and displacement bid. There are a lot of f/o's with the time to upgrade who are senior to the DEC's. They will take the vacancy slots, along with captains making lateral moves via the 30% rule. Then you have the captains being displaced out of LGA and DFW. Most of them can hold captain somewhere else, and they will bump people down and out of their current captain status.

The ship is right sizing seniority wise then.

I get where buddies8 is coming from. Yes, as you say there's going to be all that movement. But it would take 75 senior FOs upgrading to force 60 junior Captains to downgrade (assuming these captains have all CA seats in displacement above all FO seats).

How many planes and pilots do you guys have coming out of this displacement?

2 things to remember, there was a canceled vacancy bid from February, and since then dozens more have reached 950. Lots of DECS will be downgraded or commuting to a base they don’t want.

Oh I agree there will people that will have to commute to hold CA. Just pointing out it will take 75 upgrading senior FOs to get 60 junior CAs to downgrade. Maybe that happens. Union email reads like it's a given. I dunno, I've never seen a bid like this before.
