Horizon is probably the top regional to work for. Even their Q400’s are probably more equipped then other regional’s brand new 175’s. I believe they have CAT3 and HUDs. Probably a lot more variety of flying there too. They’re also wholly owned by Alaska. You are kind of crazy if you’d actually turn down Horizon just because of the Q400. That’s a badass machine to fly I’ve heard. I wouldn’t commute to LGA from west coast for Envoy or any regional unless I had literally no better option. There are other better options. SkyW, Horizon, Mesa (PHX base), TSA (Denver base). You can probably expect to lose 3-4 (if not more) of your 11-12 days off a month just from commuting.

Just a guess, but with 60 or so CRJ guys going through the 175 sims in the next 4-5 months I'd say all 175 class isn't very likely to happen any time soon

Have to agree about most of this. West to east coast commute would be brutal and there is nothing wrong with the q400. The majors don't care, so long as the time is 121.

Would put my money on this as well.

Does anyone know if it’s easy to get a 2-3 week vacation right out of training? I am on my minimums and also have my wedding. Should i just take some months off and apply or getting off after training wouldn’t be that hard?

And yes, Envoy is the only option.

There was a new hire who got unpaid leave for his wedding recently.
No guarantee though.

They’ll work with you on the wedding and that’s about it. I’d delay your training if you have a honeymoon planned.

Or just cancel the honeymoon
Save some money and provide the spouse with realistic expectations as for your free time in the first few years

You're talking about paid vacation. He will(or at least should) get unpaid personal days.

Regardless, how much time do you think he will get as a fresh off IOE probie? Maybe 2 days for the actual wedding, not 14-21 days.

And let's say he gets it off, the goes to his probie check at 12 months with 1 too many sick calls, LR or MA. He'll get a thanks no thanks.
