Regardless, how much time do you think he will get as a fresh off IOE probie? Maybe 2 days for the actual wedding, not 14-21 days.
And let's say he gets it off, the goes to his probie check at 12 months with 1 too many sick calls, LR or MA. He'll get a thanks no thanks.

I won't speculate what it looks like on his probationary review though.
Let's just say I don't disagree with you.

Did you contact the CPO for a personal day? They're not as evil as people think, and very likely would let you off. As for the 2-3 weeks vacation, bring it up with recruiting/management and see if they'll approve it and get it in writing. If they can't just push back your class date. You won't be getting paid anyway if you take the time off.

Crew Scheduling will only give you the auto-reply, denied due to staffing. CPO seems to be much more reasonable with personal days.
And if it's a funeral for someone close, you are entitled to bereavement leave and positive space tickets to/from.

False. Only for immediate family. We’ve had guys turned down for funerals for aunts/uncles.

Exactly as I said, immediate family. Not merely someone close to you as you said. Per the contract, you get paid bereavement leave for 3 days and positive space travel for death of immediate family members.
