Furlough Protection

So it’s discretion... and they are going to protect the airlines at all cost with discretion. I hope not a single pilot gets furloughed and we all make it through this. When 9/30/20 gets here and no one has been furloughed, then we will all know that we made it through. Until then, I’m saying nothing is guaranteed so have a plan. If someone doesn’t think that AAG will look for ways to exploit this then he or she is completely naive. As most here know, nothing in this industry is guaranteed until it’s already happened.

on another note, even if aag or american takes money they still can reduce by furlough maximum 10% of employees on payroll 24 march 2020 in addition to the voluntary retirement and leaves.
but defintely warn letters coming to all 3 September 2020.

Under required assurances, it says applicant, not air carrier. It also addresses this by the SotT determining affiliated entities, which the WO's definitely are.
"refrain from conducting involuntary layoffs or furloughs, or reducing pay rates and benefits, of employees of the applicant and its subsidiaries (or, in the discretion of the Secretary of the Treasury, any affiliated entity) until September 30, 2020;"

it says discretion of the Secretary of the Treasury. Unless you’re Steve Mnuchin, how do you know that you definitely are going to be considered an affiliated entity? They have stated that they will not let the airlines fail. If an excess number of WO pilots are sitting around unable to fly because airplanes are parked due to scope and the AAG whines about hardships etc, are you really going to bank on the fact that they won’t be able to work some kind of deal to interpret the language that AAL applied for the funding and not AAG and that the wholly owners are an entity/affiliate of AAG the same as AAL so since AAL applied for funds the WOs should have to apply and be approved individually? Not saying that will happen, but it also isn’t far stretched that AAG would try something like that. Airlines don’t care about anything other than survival right now and will likely stop at nothing to survive. I hope no one gets furloughed, but I wouldn’t count on it being a guarantee that guys won’t. Have a plan And if you don’t need it, great! At least you had one.
But nothing is guaranteed in this situation, that's 100% certain.

I pity AAL/AAG/ANTICHRIST DP/Whatever we want to call them if they take 12,000,000,000 of tax payer money, some of which we paid, and furlough pilots on a technicality. The PR **** storm would me monumental. That would go for any entity really.

It's almost like mainline pilots take pleasure in putting regional pilots on the street. I guess you have to be homeless for at least a year to "pay your dues". Imagine being at mainline for the longest bull run in market history and not having an emergency fund.

yeah well I would not listen to aa pilots most of the whining is from the flow through pilots who now are at the bottom of the list, first to go. You know the same ones who want flowback with previous envoy seniority.

I do feel bad for those guys. Finally getting there and it appears the rug is being pulled out from under them. However, I don't feel bad enough to put myself on the street in their place which is what would happen with flowbacks.
