I was talking to a guy that held a line in April in ORD but couldn't in May. I made the same comment to him and he said there were a lot of senor people that bid reserve so he wasn't as far up the list as I would have thought.

Things like this make people bid different than usual and that can mess up your plans.

I’d guess that the N6D won’t look much different in June than it did this month (At least in ORD where it’s roughly the same line count next month). If one takes a look at usage patterns, the odds of getting called have been minimal. In that scenario, taking a CSLOA v bidding rsv is just leaving money on the table.

See my prior post regarding the math, I agree with your last sentence and that's even WITH commuting in to cover the reserve schedule and paying premium for hotels.

So you consider 30 less lines on the 145 and 45 less on the 175 for June roughly the same in ORD? Lol

The actual quantity of flying is roughly on par. Heck, that’s even less likelihood of getting used if you consider that the rsv list will be that much fatter. (Unless you’re so junior that you’re within 5 of the bottom on the list; then I can’t help you.)

It doesn't matter how many people are above you. It's the number below you that matters if you don't want to get called.

That's what I've been saying...

true. I think the companies plan to try and stop OT had an opposite effect. But it wouldn’t be extreme ownership on their part if they allowed us to use QuickTrade again.

It sure did, but heaven help you if you’re a junior not-safe reserve who needs to commute and thus stuck in a crash pad. Some “brothers and sisters” don’t have 20 days off to pick up OT with.

This month definitely created some haves and have-nots. While that is, in fact, how it works, it’s still discouraging and frustrating for those who will have to call up CS to maintain landing currency while others line their pockets out of spite.

Unpopular opinion, I know. But I think it went too far.

A lack of unity only helps the company, and this has created a divide.

I don’t think there are many people that really pick up OT out of spite. From what I can tell, everyone picked up their normal amount of OT. There’s just not much flying out there, OT or otherwise.
There’s also very little going to RSVs because there are almost no delays. I can’t remember the last time I flew a leg that wasn’t both a terminating flight AND 20 mins early.

Also, most reserves I know see flying as a negative, not a positive.
