Warm bodies, once you cadets get here, you're one of us getting screwed too.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you. The cadet program should be ended until there is a market demand for them.

Anyone else excited to be hit up for concessions while the co is still paying cadets to... do nothing?

We’ve been given 12 months of non-rev travel as D2R. Definitely better than what the CBA says and am thankful for that, but it tweaks a lot of us that a Cadet could potentially bump us off a flight. However, that being said, what are the chances that would actually happen?

probably not sky high unless you live in Daytona or Phoenix

The real loser is the pilot or pilots getting furloughed to save some money the company could/should save by axing the cadet program

In fairness, it’s not exactly a one for one, cost savings. They pay pilots on property to fly planes and move pax today. Right now, there are not enough pax to justify all the pilots on property. Cadets were always an investment for future demand.

However...
The fact that the cadet program was a smart investment 6 months ago, doesn’t mean it is today because:
There are thousands of unemployed and soon to be unemployed qualified pilots right now. ENY won’t need to hire for at least a year or two (otherwise, why furlough?).
There will be minimal attrition at ENY for years due to furloughs at AA and other Majors.

The business case for the program has changed and I can’t see the case for keeping it. The employee relations hit they are taking by prioritizing cadets over current pilots is also counterproductive, in my opinion.

On the other hand, if the company listened to me, 145 CA’s would be making $300,000 a year, have 20 days off a month, and all layovers would be at All Inclusive beach resorts...

As someone at YX with no skin in the game at MQ, I'm extremely frustrated for y'all that there's a situation where cadets could keep flight benefits while furloughed pilots could be bumped because of a lower priority. What a load of BS. I hope y'all have some recourse to get that fixed.

What is the current situation at MQ with respect to furloughs? I admit with things as busy as they've been over at Republic, I haven't been keeping tabs with the others as much as I would like to.

Wishing you guys the best. I have lots of buddies at Envoy, and I hope y'all are able to mitigate all the furloughs. We're all in it together.

They keep repeating that the cadets are not covered by the CBA, so there is little they can do about anything the company decides to do with them.
