The recalls occurred before the new hire announcement. Recall letters were received December 23rd and the announcement of new hires wasn’t until mid January after the period you could accept or deny recall. That has nothing to do with it

^Unfortunately in this environment hiring for one probably means terrible news for another. What wouldn’t make sense is the last MESA earnings call made the American situation sound optimistic.

If there's one thing I've been taught over and over and over by my experience at Envoy, it's that you should never read into staffing.
Remember when we had 180 FO's on reserve OFE for like 6 months and everyone was like "something huge is coming?"
Lol.

If, and I stress the IF, AAG takes the 900s from Mesa and sends them over to PSA its only for up to 10 this year. We parked 19 deuces if I remember correctly. Even if those 10 came to PSA we are still grossly overstaffed and wouldn't need to hire to cover them. I also don't believe many declined the recall. I'm pretty sure everyone over here is scratching their heads as to why and what's going on because it does not make sense at all.

With the new strains coming and international travel being hosed once again, some of these decisions seem dubious at best.
The longer I do this job the more I realize how speculative it is and how decisions take time to come to fruition. I feel like that is why we see a lot of strange positioning in hindsight.
