Defeating the stigma

Agree with one exception. IF you are on a jump seat listing, but get a seat in the back, I want to know. First - to know there was a jump seater I may have been unaware of, and second to know that the gate is doing their job to get you on. Why? I fly mostly the same city pairs. We all do. So If I know there are commuters to these cities, I will be aware. I always check if we are booked close to full to see if there are any jump seat listings. I want to get you on.

I only expect to hear from you if you are on a JS listing. Normal non rev - don't care. Deadhead - don't care. Paying Pax - don't care. Just the JS listings should be checking in. Why? Here's why. The JS is at my discretion. No other seat is. Unless you are causing a disturbance, but you get my drift. I can only decide yay or nay on the jump seat. So if you are listed as a jump seater, I want you to check in. Even if you have a seat in the back. Normal non rev - please don't check in.

While we are on the subject...bringing candy/gifts for the crew? I feel like this is a FA/gate agent phenomenon. Commuters would go broke doing this on the regular

Envoy has the stigma of being cocky, for absolutely no reason. They also have a stigma of sliding airplanes off of runways in the Bahamas.
Being a "top tier" regional is like a top tier porta-john. Either way, you are pooping in a bucket, it smells terrible, and you can't wait to get out of it.

Thought so.

When I non-rev with my kids (pre-Rona), I’d always bring a bag of candy for the FA’s. It helps smooth over the inevitable disaster that is about to ensue...

I always bring something for the gate agent when I'm listing at the gate for an OAL jumpseat, seems to help enormously and they're very appreciative. I've won over a JB gate agent at Kennedy so thoroughly with a fancy chocolate that he came out and found me in the boarding area a couple times to let me know what was really going on w/ their delay. Very nice guy, may have done it anyway.
