as dera said, I chose envoy because it was the right fit for me and I’m glad that I did. I don’t have a ton of negative things to say outside of how terrible the reserve rules were and how I hated sitting airport standby but I knew that going in so..... eh.
all that said, at my age, I was never there for the flow. It’s a good thing I wasn’t, because I have friends that had flow class dates cancelled a year ago that are still at envoy waiting. That means that my 6 to 9 year flow depending on what line of thinking you choose to believe became a 7 to 10 year flow.
Spirit was my first choice and really my only choice. I am glad every day that I made the jump. The work rules and reserve rules are unbelievable, the flying is what I want (no desire to fly WB) and the people are cool as heck. Everywhere we go, I am one flight from home and our lack of a traditional hub/spoke structure is fun. There is definitely a culture associated with this company and I see that in the captains that I fly with. we brief and harp on the same things that every other airline briefs and harps on but for some reason the flying just feels a little bit more laid-back.
i dunno. To each their own but I can tell you I’ve written some letters for SEVERAL AA WO pilots so far....my very first month holding a line I had a true 18-day off line without even touching it. The ability to drop and pick up out of any base gives you complete freedom to build your schedule however you like it
I think I chose correctly and my home life
agrees.
Best of luck to anyone else trying to come aboard. If you want to be here, we want you here. If you turn your nose up at us, that’s cool too.

Speaking of Spirit, anyone hear back yet on their app since the window opened back up last month?

That was announced a while back. They have something like 30 of them they already owned that they inked a deal with AAG to fly. That’s in addition to the 25 175s they are purchasing. The CRJs were announced while PSA still had planes parked and pilots not being used. Obviously Envoy still has pilots not being used and still have several more 175s at AVQ and new planes that were sold to RAH. The six that went to RAH are being substituted for the 170s that are coming, but that is still all flying that could be done by the WOs. The big issue here is that SKW is growing at a time when the WOs have already lost flying to RAH and are now loosing more.

Unfortunately via the CDC and executive order, the current administration has made it the rule of the land. The minute you walk into the terminal you are subjected to it. Cooperate to graduate.
