Except Envoy isn’t giving anyone a class date more than six weeks in advance. It’s definitely smart to apply to more than one regional, but you might just get a start date at Envoy by being in the right place at the right time. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Class date

I just got offered the 4/13 orientation date for a possible 5/01 class date, good luck to you all.

Is that for FO or DEC?

FO. Non envoy cadet or previous 121 time. Hiring is def picking back up and they maybe back to taking more low time FOs. Thats a good sign, I hope it stays this way.

if you have a lot of time in that F 16, that might help.

The giant truck billboard!

Has anyone seen this or heard of it?

I was walking down JFK Boulevard near IAH from my commuter hotel to Taco Bell contemplating the meaning of life on reserve. I saw this giant glowing truck coming at me. Expecting some ad for concert, lawyer, or something more normal, I was floored to see a 175 with happy pilots and promises of six figure income instantly just by signing up.

I’ve seen these ads too in ORD, but the truck blew my mind. It’s a crazy world where airlines are soliciting pilots. It’s a good thing, or at least light years ahead of people paying to get their first jobs.

Sadly, I remembered I am ineligible for such promises on the truck since I did not flow and am probably blacklisted from ever applying to AA or their WOs.

I hope everyone is well there and enjoying much movement from flow and OAL attrition, while making amazing pay.

The funniest thing about one of these recruiting ads is that one of the pilots in them got fired for BS HR "investigation" shortly before flowing.

what’s orientation? Seems like Envoy is the only regional that has it.

My observation is that the training department has been scheduling somewhat last minute; I received email confirmation of an orientation date I had heard by phone exactly two weeks prior to that date along with a request for more paperwork. I received travel plans the day before I departed. Prior groups got Indoc dates at Orientation, we were told what dates to expect and I received confirmation of mine a week later. Envoy isn’t scheduling months out like everyone else.

The next Orientation date is April 13th. If you are on their firm list for this date you can expect to hear more by email on March 30th. I have heard of some cadets receiving less than two weeks notice, so it is possible Envoy will offer this date to more pilots closer in as they finalize numbers and plans. They are probably still prioritizing prior Part 121 pilots and hoping to fit in others too, maybe they discovered their hiring pool mostly went elsewhere and are now replacing them. If you are in their hiring pool and can accept less than two weeks notice, I would email your recruiters and remind them after March 30th. I would guess the May Orientation date will be May 11th or 18th since it is always on a Thursday.

As a pilot you are always going to be a number to your employer, they may expect loyalty but they won’t give you loyalty in return and they don’t care about what is fair. Until you are actually in Orientation you don’t have a firm spot on Envoy’s training list or pilot seniority list. The good thing is that with Envoy’s orientation system they start paying you up to six weeks before you actually start ground school.

whats the difference between indoc and orientation?
