I am considering buying more multi-time or doing an ATP ride in a piston twin.

Not that I know of. The people recently hired (hired as in started on the line July/August) that I've talked to were mostly hired as low-time CFIs, ATP-CTP done, but with very little multi. They are hiring non-cadet CFIs, but I'm not sure how many.

I talked to a recruiter at OSH, and they said they're still targeting CFIs as they're preferred group. The issue is we're the only ones really hiring, so I'd imagine the pool of applications is pretty large.

I’m starting to think the interview invite pull is completely random. I think they’re just filling the available spots on the first 8-10 qualified apps they see. It seems like they’re definitely still favoring 1500hr & written completed candidates with little to no turbine time.. but beyond those quals I think it’s luck of the draw

I think attendance to hiring/networking conventions could be a factor as well. One of the two folks who gave the presentation before our interviews that morning in late June was the same guy I talked to at RTAG back in October.

Bases and Bids

Alright here is some information on Sep 8th Class!

All bases were up for bid. ORD having the most closely followed by MIA, DFW then PHX.

Also heard in the school house that a class or 2 prior all got MIA, for what ever that is worth...

Seems like there is movement throughout so getting to your desired base relatively quick is on the menu.

Airlines tend to have a long memory regarding hiring. Maybe you were “blacklisted” for not taking the ENY gig and instead you went to brand X.

Could be. I think it's more likely they don't think he'll stick around long enough. He's overqualified and if United is hiring 2,500 pilots next year...

I interviewed on July 10th and just got the call for the October 6th class as well. Someone else in my group of 6 that got the offers that day got September 22nd.

Hopefully the rest of us get October 6th or whenever the next one is. Took me nearly 2 months to hear back from them. Feels good to finally have a start date. 1500+TT CFI with ATP/CTP and the ATP checkride done in a piston multi.

interviewed last week of June (23-26), CFI/II/MEI 1500TT. Received email saying that passed CRB (after I emailed asking in early August) and was just waiting on class scheduling. No call yet.
