He tells me you are an 824 guy soon to come over. Eagle's loss will be our gain. Please find a good replacement for yourself before joining our ranks. He says your new MEC chairman, and both NY guys have been catalysts for real change. If so, tell them the first rounds are on me.

I believe I found a good replacement for myself if this whole process doesn't scare him away, LOL! I am an 824 guy with several months to go and 16 years at eagle. But it will be the highlight of my career if I can help steer us through this mess and leave my brothers at eagle in a good position. That's what I've been living for a couple of months now, and we are still in the middle. I am really proud if my group today, really proud. Now it's off to the office, miles to go today before I (continue a string of many days not getting enough) sleep.

You'll be hearing the 90-107 numbers soon. They will move the CRJ's elsewhere over a few years while shrinking through attrition to get through the next 3-4 years of the staffing shortage. Then the 90 options come back and you become 180-197 aircraft fleet. The really long term plans are to grow Eagle to 270 jets.

Under the AIP, they would have replaced enough jets to keep you at the 170 fleet minimum, but would have still ended up 180-197.

Sounds pretty ugly in the short term.

Sure does. I cant do another 2.5 years on commuting on reserve. Its very likely I will leave in a few months.

I would assume you're not alone. Hopefully ALPA helps everyone find jobs at other regionals, not exactly sure what they can do though.

I certainly don't share your outlook on mainline hiring. There are 17,000+ regional pilots, I think a significant portion of pilots will still be stuck 5 years from now, there just aren't enough seats at the next level. 10 years may be a different story as the retirements really build after the next 5 years.

I do agree though, all regionals will be shrinking. The downside to Eagle is with the large reduction in airframes you're talking about our relative seniority will stagnate. The seat you're in today is likely the seat you'll be in 5 years from now regardless of where you are on the list. PIC may not be necessary anymore but it is certainly still valuable.

In this market of virtually every regional having staffing problems, the only people who need help getting another flying job are perhaps unemployable.

Whether it's a job you WANT may be another thing. I for one am at my last regional. Up, here, or out.
