On the 175, it's less than 6 months. My DOH is 4/25/16, I'm holding a line this month. Can't speak to the 145 in either base or the CRJ but I assume it's longer.

 

The E-175 probably won't be a option until the training backlog on it clears off (end of this year/beginning of next). If you really have to have DFW, just take the E-145 and bid back to DFW whenever that becomes possible (I've heard something like 8-9 months). In the interim, there are something like 4x daily IAH-ORD on Envoy CR7, so it's a fairly easy commute.

 

We will get those E175's options. More flying so more movement.

Try the E175 at all cost if you can you won't regret flying it.

 

Why is reserve shorter on a less numbered 175 but really long on ERJ and CRJ which have more flying?

It's all about movement. The company hired so many people this summer on the 175, so the guys hired at the beginning of the wave moved up the seniority list very quickly. They didn't hire much on the 145/CRJ though, that's why the reserve time dropped dramatically on the 175.

From what we hear in the company, they gonna hire 50/month, most of it on the 145, so now we are going to see more movement on that side. And believe me, they really need bodies on this fleet.
They also plan on hiring pilot for the crj, but the CRJ is a smaller fleet, so they probably gonna get 10-15 pilots per month for the CRJ.

Ultimately the CRJ is not gonna stay, so you can probably expect displacements in the future, the question is "when?" Probably not too soon, cause psa can't staff their planes.

For people living in Dfw, right now the 175 is probably a good option, BUT if they get the 40 more 175, it will probably come with a new base(s) (just my guess), meaning displacements.. and the most junior guys will be displaced.. it's all about timing. The 145 right now is probably the best bet.

 

The 175 has only been offered to new hires since the initial cadre of FOs. I got lucky and caught the wave early, I'm about 85 from the top on the list of 175 FOs in DFW. We had 82 hard lines for October, and I'm assuming some of the pilots ahead of me either forgot to bid or bid reserve to get the days off they wanted. The initial cadre are due for upgrade soon, so there should be some movement upwards in the near future. We should be looking at somewhere around 200 FOs on the 175 to staff the full boat of 40 planes that comprise the initial order. The CRJ and 145 have much more senior FO lists as they are existing rather than new fleets. FOs can only change fleets when displaced or when they upgrade to CA, per the CBA.

 

For NHs and prospective NHs asking,

I was given the 175 in the 8/15 class. I go back for ground school starting 10/31. I would assume that the 8/29 class will start on 11/14. So you might see a few slots in the 11/7 class, probably the 11/21 at latest if the company wants to continue to hire into the fleet. THIS ISN'T FOR SURE, just my educated guess.

Guys six year fo here. Don't discredit the 145. I almost bid the crj as a new hire and when they closed ny. I stayed with the 145 and it's been the best choice I made. It's in every base. It's rumored by the union to be the plane for a possible Miami.

It allowed me to start in ny when I had serious personal issues at home as a new hire. I enjoyed two years later on in Miami (moved there) and when **** hit the fan and i had to again be ny based I went right back to ny. Thelast year commute sucked but ny is open again and guess what shocker it's emj145. I'm constantly flying aand overnighting in Miami too. Just did 20 hour Miami overnight scheduled Friday, and then same Saturday unscheduled.

It's an easy airplane and reliable. Don't get too caught up with shiny her syndrome. Focus on qol and what gives you what you want. And Jesus Christ don't commute just for a shiny jet.
