Default Eagle to hire 600+ in 2013!

I just saw this on the Eagle Recruitment Facebook page:

American Eagle Airlines would like to wish you a Happy New Year and share some great news about our airline. We are currently hiring and plan to bring on over 600 new pilots in 2013! With the flow of our senior pilots to American Airlines and increased attrition to major carriers, we are looking for qualified pilots immediately. In addition, new flight time and duty time regulations going into eff...ect in 2014 will increase the number of pilots needed even further. We are hiring into the EMB-145 series and the CRJ-700 aircraft. We are also hiring into all of our Turbo-Jet bases which are Chicago-O’hare (ORD), New York (JFK & LGA), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), and Miami (MIA).

With American Airlines planning to hire 2500 pilots over the next 5 years, American Eagle is expecting approximately half of our pilot list to flow to American in the next 5 years. This movement will create faster career progression for new American Eagle pilots. Pilots leaving for other major carriers will further accelerate American Eagle pilots’ career progression.

We would also like to let you know that American Eagle is currently offering a new hire bonus of $5,000. This bonus is paid to new pilots just prior to the start of training and requires a two year agreement with American Eagle. The bonus and associated agreement are optional but offered as an added incentive to join the American Eagle team.

If you are interested in a pilot position with American Eagle Airlines, update your AirlineApps profile with the most current information and be sure to update the American Eagle addendum as well. Once you have updated your profile, email us at [email protected]. Our minimum flight time requirements are the ATP minimum hour requirements as stated in 61.159. A completed ATP written exam is required prior to starting new hire pilot training.

All of us in Pilot Recruitment are line pilots and would be happy to answer your questions.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Are they seriously going to find 600 pilots to work there? Good luck!

Pinnacle is about to dump a bunch of FO's with ATP requirements that I'm sure will apply there.

I have ATP requirements...and an ATP...but I'll skip out on it, and enjoy watching from the sidelines as long as wages stay low...Good luck Eagle.

I commute on Eagle a lot. I overheard a couple of Eagle captains in Dallas discussing the staffing problem. A class of 6 will be expected and 2 or 0 show up. The expense is not longer worth the rewards. I think the temporary fix will be a move to larger equipment (E-175's) and a gradual shrinking of the fleet count.

Didn't they expect to hire 600+ in 2011? Then furloughs commenced a few months later

If they started FO pay around $40-45 per hour then maybe i would think about applying there, but for $20 something an hour fuggetaboutit. I worked at ExpressJet about 6 years ago and had to quit because i could'nt afford to be there anymore, and got a job flying charter for double the pay but cr@ppy schedule. I can deal with sh!tty schedule but draw the line at poverty wages flying a commercial airliner with peoples lives in my hands.
