Strange they are talking about all of this movement. My friend has been there like 2+ years and he just lost his line in DFW. He is back on reserve.

The present never equates to what may happen six months to a year down the road.

Wait until the flowthroughs move over to AA (some of them, anyway), and AA starts hiring (AA is saying possibly by May-June). That will cause the beginning of movement of the 824, along with some who may be hired through the normal application/interview process.

So, things are stagnant right now, but that should change by Spring/Summer.

Ya never really know though. It's just an educated prognosis.

There is no doubt Eagle management is dangling a carrot to attract pilots. The bigger question is, is will that carrot materialize or not? AMR and specifically AA is going through so much uncertainty with respect to management that there could either be significant hiring, no movement, or God forbid worse in the years to come. We just don't know, and unfortunately everything is predicated upon what AA does. Going to Eagle in hopes of a 3-4 year upgrade is a risk. IMO. However, depending on what AA does, there is the possibility you could see that in which case everyone who braved the poor pay and uncertainty of the move will have won the gamble. OTOH, it could turn out just the opposite and you're still stuck looking for pic time.

Personally, I'm playing it safe. I'm in a spot where I'm building multi tpic time making good money, so ill wait until I've got 1000 and my loans are paid to go anywhere. Good luck to you all!

What happens to "all that flow" when AA and LCC join up and they "synergize" the fleets? Ask the DAL pilots who have been completely stagnant to slightly backwards for the last 5 years...... Good luck.

Wanna run that math over again? ;-)

AA can't really shrink any further, not sure about LCC but with load factors over 85% I don't see much shrinking. But we will find out in the near future.

Let's see...$5,000 bonus + sh!t pay scale + long upgrade time still equals a sh!t pay scale. No thanks.

Really? Think about that for a minute. For those out there like yourself (C-17 left seat) or myself, this means nothing. For those who are just beginning in this industry, those with a fresh ATP and no appreciable turbine time, this (meaning the bottom feeders, as you guys so eloquently put it), this is how they build the time and experience to someday become competitive applicants for a major major airline job. Would they all like to skip this step and move straight from flight instructing, banner towing, charter work, etc. to the Major airlines? Without a doubt. Is that possible. Almost without exception, no. Therefore, they can get excited about the entry level airline job market opening up. Yes, they will be very poorly paid initially, but then again, AA pays only $40 an hour to start there too, and since I'm a flowthrough about to head over there, I'm taking that ridiculous cut in pay to better myself in the long term. In a Utopian world, ALL FO's would make substantially better money than they presently do now. In the real world, I don't see this happening unless and until there is a REAL pilot shortage.
