Hello All
Thanks in advance for your reply. I am looking to come across from 135 world to 121 so need some information hopefully to make an educated decision.
I will be interviewing with Envoy soon, assuming that I can start in May
1. How long do you think the training is taking.
2. How long is the reserve.
3. I know the trend is going towards a 2 year upgrade, but how realistic is that. I am trying to decided between envoy and PDT as their upgrades are quicker and the extra money helps.
Thanks.

With the most recent upgrade award, we'll probably be down to a 3.5 year upgrade later in 2017, but currently the most junior captain is about 6 years.
I would recommend going to the airline to which you can drive to work or have an easier commute.

1- new hires want to fly asap to digest and practice what they've learned in the school house.
2- veterans are comfortable in the plane, processes and using the systems and welcome being home.
Move on...

I've spent the last 15 years as a loadmaster on the 747, DC-10, and MD-11. I've gotten paid to travel to corners of this planet that people can only imagine and 99% of them will never come close to seeing in person. I've traveled a bit during the break. I just want to fly and not sit. There is going to be a whole new learning curve having been out of the box for a month already with the possibility of a couple more weeks yet. Sorry that I don't like to sit at home for weeks on end and that I want to go to work.
being up front.

Is there any chance to get back in at least the CPT if you have time between sim and IOE?

Same as the E175. People were talking about it saying "Were getting E175s!!!" back when I was on probation in 2007. Some things never change.

I'd wager by Jan 1 2020 They will all be replaced. Whether we are allowed to use the vnav functions then is the question.

Training itself is 6 weeks. That includes ground school and sims. Most people when they ask about training length, that's what they are referring to.
If you want to include IOE as part of training...I would say about 5 weeks between your checkride and starting IOE. Then about two or three trips on IOE. But it's only about 6 weeks in the school house.

That's my thoughts exactly. Why spend the money when in 3 years they will be on the chopping block?
Isn't this like leasing a car when you had the option for sat nav installed at the sale, then just before the lease is up getting it installed? I don't get it.
