Question for purposes of commuting - what's initial basing look like for new hires? DFW a pipe dream? (It's the only direct flight base for me.)

Cheers

There haven't been any direct hires into DFW. But the last few classes have been able to get DFW awarded to them through vacancy bids prior to completion of training. There have been about 70ish DFW slots filled by guys that were assigned LGA on the first day of class.

I have my interview this week. I have 121 experience so curious about the "streamlined interview for part 121 pilots". Any advice or heads up would be greatly appreciated!

Do all of the 145s have the Intigrated Standby Instrument cockpit layout?

I enjoy reading his BS. It's entertaining to say the least. I'm sure he's just happy to get out of the Cessna 172.

There have actually been initial DFW awards from day one but they're only in the 175 and you have to be kinda on the older side to pull that. But as the other guy said, if things keep going as they have been, you can you'll have DFW before training ends if you get the 145. Do not pick the CRJ if you want DFW.

Also, if Envoy flies to your home base, look at the types that are going there. Long overnights stays in your home will make the 4 day trips not seem like 4 day trips. I was looking forward to that until I was told overnight stays in my hometown go surprising senior due to the hotel being popular. That may not be an issue for you though.

Wow, thanks for the info! I'm retiring from the military soon at 41 -since age is relative in this game, is that old enough (as a guess?)

I actually fly Envoy direct DFW every time I leave home on business west bound. The problem might be the seniority thing for overnights here. It's not the hotel, per se, but it's Destin, FL. Not exactly a rough place to visit!
