"Duty-free period." Those are your days off. The rest are probably reserve days if they are blank. Check your HI1.

It essentially gives you PBS. I think the app was $5 and each monthly bid is $1.99. You set your Bidding preferences and hit submit. It connects to Sabre and submits your bid for you. Click on the trip number and it opens a new page with trip details. QuickTrade is another one I tried. It makes proffering on reserve a 30 second process. Also, trying to drop trips and OT was a breeze when I had a line in NYC. It's pretty pricey (I think $50-60 a year) so now that my free trial is done with I'll probably wait until I get a line again to buy it. I've been told they were developed by an Envoy pilot. That guy is a genius and hopefully ver wealthy.
Yes the app is called AutoBid. It's an app you can get for a one time purchase which submits your bids after you've used eagle-quicktrade.com to sort your bids. The website is where you pay the $1.99/month. You can use the website alone and have it kinda automatically bid for you without the app, but you're gonna want the app to bid.

Not sure if you're instructor informed you, but be sure and monitor your schedule after completing IOE. Scheduling will more than likely back-date your move days and base orientation day to the days after you were signed off on IOE. Happy bidding

If you're not a troll (which I have a hard time believing at this point) then you're clueless about what you speak. Sick time, just like EVERY other section of our contract, represents a set dollar amount of compensation when negotiated by the company and ALPA. Everything from uniform allowances to move days has a value. The company has agreed to pay that value for your services, your labor, and some of the compensation isn't monetary, it's time off from work without loosing pay. When the company comes up with these ridiculous schemes to deny the use of sick time, it really should be considered just another contract violation. And that's not even getting into the issues of sick employees causing greater revenue loss, or people just needing time away from work to deal with stuff happening in their lives or to avoid getting burnt out. It would be far more beneficial for the company to allow employees to cash out their sick time right now rather than force them to take it in order to avoid loosing the compensation. If you think employees should be fired for exercising their contractual rights, the shininess of the 175 has clearly damaged your head.

AA has hired pilots outside of the flow. Number one reason (IMO) guys get hired outside the flow is due to internships. Others have been hired but I haven't heard of anyone lately. Some people might suggest people of certain minority groups likely get hired, but I think it may have more to do with having connections and knowing someone. Anyone know anyone who got hired through the front door at AA via Envoy?
I personally know two envoy pilots that were hired at American. Both of these individuals were outstanding, well-connected, and also happened to be of a "minority" status. I don't wish to take away from either of them, but I know quite a few white, male envoy pilots that were interns for AA and have been at envoy for a decade, and never even got the videoconference interview. While this may be anecdotal evidence, I'm certainly not the only person to have made this observation. TIFWIW.

I went through my HI1 and saw my reserve days but is there any guidance as to when the actual reserve shift starts?

You proffer for something different the day before... if you check your HI6 99% of the time they'll assign you a "default RAP 1" on your first reserve day a few days before. If you need help for proffering PM.

If you haven't been preassigned a rap 1 and you are on days off you have no responsibility to check your schedule. You will default to long call starting at midnight expect a call at 12 and don't miss it. They will give you a minimum of 10 hours until your assignment.
